Will Howard

100%

Will got left behind by the previous coaching staff. By not knowing how to develop and build for the future, they delegated him to practice squad QB.

If Will sits, this current coaching staff will actually develop him with future in mmyb a, not relegate him to purgatory.

He was hurt. Hard to do much at that point. That is one I can't put the blame on the coaching staff for.

I am in the minority I like Nuss in 3. I thought his injury held him back. Thought he showed well in the Senior-bowl in a small sample size.

I probably wouldn’t lose sleep over Allar in 3 either. We have an extra one if they want to take a QB dip in the pond.

Yeah unless someone blows up on the roster I wouldn’t hesitate to revisit the well next year for sure..

Exactly

That cupboard ain’t gonna fill itself

Time to go shopping

Maybe.
But Aaron Rodgers, and others, have sat for 2 or more years before getting their shot.
And Rodgers was a 1st round pick.
Sometimes it's not bad to sit and learn.
Aaron Rodgers turned 25 years old in December of his first year as a starter. Will Howard will be 25 in September.

Lucky for the Steelers, there's Trey Lance at 6'4" 225lbs available in FA...

McCarthy did bring him to Dallas...
I wouldn’t attach my horse to that cart. I would think there would be more attractive options available if A A Ron retires…

McCarty is coaching HIS Steelers now… this isn’t Tennessee or even Dallas or green bay!! This is HIS Steelers! You think he going to run a bum out there?? Would any of us? This will be interesting if for no other reason we have a yinzer coaching the Steelers! Not a carpetbagger!

The best case for the Steelers at QB is for Rodgers to come back. If for nothing else- to mentor the young QB's in the team.

I suspect Mason Rudolph sticks as QB#2 because Rodgers was quite effusive talking up Rudolph in the locker room. Good team mates stick around.

The 3rd QB, the developmental guy, is where all our interest goes.

We have Will Howard in the books already- theoretically he fits a WCO style reasonably well. But there are enough questions about him to make you say....'maybe'.....

I don't think a world exists where the Steelers don't draft a QB. Will it be at #21? Doubtful. But I think Nussmeier, Drew Allar, Klubnik & Carson Beck are all potentially in the Steelers sights.

What I think is almost certain is that the Steelers will not only supply the QB's DK Metcalf. There will be 3-4 new additions to the WR room, making ALL the QB's look better.

I like Nussmeier. I think he fits the WCO best of the draft picks...outside of....

Potentially the least likeable option- Carson Beck.

Here's the thing with Beck- if the Steelers are ADAMENT that we are in 'win now' mode, and if the Steelers add a good WR or 2, some OL strength & consistent running game (hello Mike Washington from Arkansas)- Beck could step in & be that guy, for at least a season or two. If Rodgers can take Beck under his wing, humble him a little, maybe it could be a long term thing. He's the most NFL ready guy available. He reads the game at the line better than all the draftable QB's this season. He has thrown a ton of college passes, faced good defences. And done well.

He's just a bit of an ***.

But then, Ben was a bit of an *** to start with too.

I like Nussmeier.

I think Beck might be the best pick in Round 3.

That would fall under things I wish I didn't know now that I didn't know then.

My point exactly.

Come on now, you guys are selling Coolie Man short… not to mix with the 34 stone trailer court’s girl’s statement !!!

Coolie has a lot of attributes, beans or no beans being one of the biggest………………and his friend Lunar.

Beck has been an afterthought with me, but I like what I read here.

Humble Beck??? Lmfao, Rodgers ain’t needed for that…the young man has always seemed pretty humble. Every time I’ve ever heard Beck speak he’s been extremely humble and says the right things (takes blame for his guys when things go bad and gives them the credit as well when things are good ). I must’ve missed his “***” outbreaks you speak of. Just because he looks like a meth head from the trailer park doesn’t mean he is that.

Beck’s biggest issue is consistency…
Sometimes ya get good Beck and he’s phenomenal BUT other times ya get bad Beck and the picks are gonna come in bunches.
He reminds me of Ben a lot in that way. When he’s on he’s on but when he’s off it’s way off.

For my money give me Taylen Green out of this draft in the mid rounds and maybe Haynes King if he’s there late (to use in a Swiss Army knife role).

Certainly don’t have ANY need for Rodgers unless the goal is clinging to mediocrity for one more run back…he’d be absolutely pointless.
