Pens 25-26 thread

It was fairly evident after watching the last 10 minutes of the Rangers game to know that this team lost a little bit of mojo. Next up are two very big games coming up before the Olympic break.
This team is not talented enough to go into such an extended break on a three game losing streak.
Next 72 hours or so arecritical to the rest of the season success of this team.
The new coach will be tested.

I'm not ready to take it that far. It will be a great test, and I was not feeling confident in this game. I was only because it was at home, but the Sens seem to have our number. It's just one of those odd sports realities.

For me, the big three had better start showing up. They have been non factors in too many recent games. I know Letang is injured, but Sid has been invisible, and Gino seems to remember it's game day every once in a while. When he does, it's magic.

I still have this childish belief in this team at this point. Every game is worth watching. Really looking forward to the olympics. Shoud be good hockey.

Can’t wait for the Olympics especially the hockey!
My concern is just based off of watching them and how this team seem to go from hot to cold at the drop of a hat or should I say drop of a puck?Lol
 
Missed last night's game. I was wondering if the 3rd period downturn of the Rangers game was going to continue. Looks like it did but it's amazing how the Sens only committed 1 penalty. They must be a great team.

They had the Pens on their heels most of the game. I think the Pens only had 10 SOG through 2 periods? Silovs played lights out keepinng them in the game.

That being said they didnt play very well and still had a chance to win against what looks like a pretty good team in the Sens to me.

I hope they play better tonight. We don't want to go into the Olympic break on a downturn after all those wins.

Every time they go to OT or a shootout it's a L.

It was a pretty good game minus giving up 4 goals in regulation.

I'm 0-2 in watching the last two games,think I'll take the next one off.

Truth. He has been amazing, so I'll give him a mulligan. That last goal he let in was super soft. He will revisit that one in his mind a lot.
 
That was a game they let get away.
We dominated that game with the five guys on the ice. The only guy that didn’t dominate was the guy we needed the most between the pipes.
Starting to see a trend with Skinner and what has prevented him from becoming a top 10 goalie in the league, and to me it’s obviously his consistency. It is not there, in fact it’s somewhat similar to Jarrys performance..

The pens are better overall upfront, but our goaltender situation is still the same. It’s a shame the young Russian goaltender at Wilkes-Barre has also shown some serious inconsistency at that level.
THis team needs nothing more than a consistently very good to excellent guy that stops the puck.

My expectations for this year are hopefully sneak into the playoffs as a wildcard. I don’t think we’re gonna end up as a top three in the division and maybe win a series.

Somewhat similar to my other favorite professional sports team expectations of the past year

I've always looked at the +/- differential to gauge a team's true power ranking, and it's held true for me over the past decade. The Pens are sitting at a +20 which has them at fourth in the Atlantic and second in the Metro. If they can keep up this pace, they have a very real shot at being top three to end the regular season.

That’s a good indicator man
I look at that also
I believe we’re at that point because of the youthful reserve resurgence of some of our veteran players. Unfortunately, I’ve seen that dwindle lately meaning our veteran players performance, hopefully the extended break will rejuvenate them.
I can tell you one thing having Brian Rust back is a big plus for us.

Having a 4th line that can score is a HUGE difference maker, letting our old *** forwards take an extra rest and fresher legs late in the season.
