Initial Thought on clowns Game

Did anyone ask Dugger about what he was thinking/doing on the Browns TD pass? I just saw another angle and it confirms that it is one of the most bizarre plays in NFL history. It’s like he mistook the Browns receiver for a Steeler DB and didn’t want to interfere with a teammate going for an interception.

A lot of times, I see our receivers get to their spot and are covered.

I see they just stay there, no attempt to becoming un-covered.

Is that scheme or just crappy coaching ???

This is the type of stuff that replay assist is supposed to review on critical plays......IMO Replay Assist is a complete joke and it's only used to manipulate the outcome of games. It's supposed to be active so that every play is re-viewable and if they determine a penalty was committed they can actually call the penalty upon review with Replay Assist. That is according to the NFL Rules on Replay Assist. It was used yesterday in the Eagles vs Bills game to call a penalty that was not called on a Fair Catch Interference Penalty. So don't tell me the NFL is not RIGGED! This is all the pr00f I need!

Metcalf will and should be blamed for fact that they will almost certainly miss the playoffs.
I don't know about that. The last I heard was not only do they plan on keeping him around, they also don't intend to recoup any of his bonus.

Watch the replay of the last throw. Keep your eyes on Gainwell. All those 3 yard routes in the last 5 years. Gainwell could have done cartwheels in the end zone, but Rodgers wasn’t even looking anywhere else. It’s not the first time he panicked and locks in.
Gainwell has a guy on him...he maybe 3 yards away but as soon as the QB turns and throws his way he is taking it maybe to the 4 or 3 yard line....then what are you doing? They clock has :18 seconds when that play starts..no timeouts.

Rodgers knows exactly what is happening and where the ball has to go. Either TD, incomplete, or dpi...in all cases the clock stops.

Give the turds D coordinator and their D credit. They were not throwing to the middle of the end zone there..it was covered. They knew there was an almost 0% chance of a run.

JPJ gets a flag from every official. The play was a lot closer in live action and I didn't give it a second thought. You also have to live with these calls when it's one of the best CBs against a WR who shouldn't be in the league.

Yeah I see that too. I don't know what it is, but my guess would be they think the ball is coming out quick. You would think someone would tell them you need to keep working to the side the QB is rolling out to. Weird.

Yeah I'm not a conspiracy person, but that just seems impossible to miss. You could tell it in real time easily as well as it wasn't those really close right when the ball gets there plays. It's not just the contact, the turd isn't even playing the ball...mind blowing unless the fix really is in. The ref can't say he was looking to see where his feet are they weren't near sideline or anything else...he's looking only for two things OPI or DPI.......wow.

In didn't notice this is real time. The DB had good coverage and I doubt MVS would have caught the ball anyway, but it is PI. The problem with replay assist is it doesn't create penalties. So if they would have thrown a flag they could have reviewed it. You can not blame replay assist here, but you can blame the rules. I think there are ongoing discussions to expand it, but then you open up another can of worms. It is easy when there are only a few games, but remotely trying to police every game in real time will be difficult. If there is a missed hold or PI not called, by the time they look at it the next play might be have started.

Same old ultra conservative Aviators to look bad *** Tomlin coached road game. I wonder if he strutted off the field like he did at Detroit, yelling out a reporters name because he didn't like the question she asked.

You most certainly can use REPLAY ASSIST to call a penalty! It's a new rule this season....and it happened yesterday in the Bill vs Eagles game....not once but twice! It just goes to show you that REPLAY ASSIST is used to manipulate the outcomes of games! It should have been Pass Interference....it was obvious in real time.....looked even worse when you see the ball in the air vs when Ward made contact with MVS. It should have been a flag!

No, it can only be used to correct penalties that were called, it cannot be used to retroactively call penalties that were missed.

Sorry I am late...

This game was PoOp.

It doesn't cover PI calls either way.
Guess I misunderstood their intent.

In 2025, Instant Replay will have an expanded ability to advise on-field officials on specific, objective aspects of a play and/or to address game administration issues when clear and obvious video evidence is present.

Either way, how does that NFL official not throw that flag and have a job the next day? Final play of the game, possible game tying score, textbook DPI, less than 5 yards in front of his face, with nothing blocking his view. You miss those calls because you have way too much job security or someone told you to.

Can we stop with the refs lost us the game garbage. If anything the refs are the sole reason we were not already eliminated thanks to the Ravens gifted win.
There were bad calls but that does not change the facts.

Cleveland was down to their 3rd string QB, TE and 4th string RB

The refs didn't

force the Steelers into fielding a bunch of practice squad WR.
drop passes unlike Scantling. Theilen and Herbig.
wait 3 and a half quarters to throw it to Pat
immediately stop passing to Pat when he caught 2 passes to get them to the goalline.
take the ball out of Warren's hands while he was getting 5+ ypc
take the ball out of kenny Gainwells hands
force the ball to MVS multiple times with the season on the line guy has done nothing for his entire career and has been here 3 weeks.
Get cute and bomb it to Miller on the most atrocious low percentage pass to an even lower percentage receiver who has done nothing all year. on 4th and 1
Trade away a Pro Bowl Pickens to pay DK 33 million dollars for 850 yards
Puncture TJ Watts lung on the training table

The Rooney's are 100% to blame. Yesterdays loss to the Browns 3rd and 4th stringers was a self inflicted wound and we all know it. They sabotaged this team just like they did the killer Bee's team trading talent for trash and letting the same trio of morons run the show.
Replacing the 1 Pro Bowl level Player you have. with leftover trash from the 49ers. vikings practice squad was never the plan nor the answer.
Pickens literally outgained every WR on the roster Combined.

I have been vocal all offseason
Mike Tomlin has been saved every season but 2 by a HOF QB. No other coach has had as many seasons with a superbowl winning HOF QB making him look better than he ever was.
Austin and the defense are a liability against any good offense. Always have been.
I Knew Smith was is and always will be a trash playcaller
DK was overhyped and overpaid only to underperform to a level even I didn't see coming.
Picken's would have the last laugh and the Rooneys would look like the clowns they are.
Just keeping it 100

That was the play that was called. Hard to blame AARon. Ball is in the air before the WRs break.

The blame was at the least on Tomlin in the 4th quarter not simply letting Rodgers run the hurry up the entire time....at least until we scored....which we didn't in the end. We had multiple drives start in good position. We moved to FG range and then we threw screens which lost yards. Even at the end of the game the Browns had 9 guys in the box. Everything short was being taken away but Tomlin still had us throw short.

This might be the most disappointing game I have watched that I could give two ***** about. Years past I would be all up set. After watching this game ....sadly I expected as much. And merely shrug.

At least the NFL gets their big match up next week. I have zero faith in us holding Henry under 200 yards. Throw in probably a near healthy Jackson. Could he an ugly game.

Hell....a 50% Jackson is enough most likely. Or Huntley.
Not sure it will be that big a match up. Suspect it will be over by halftime and they will be panning to fans disguised as empty seats.

There were 15-20,000 no shows on MNF in a must-win game for the Steelers and Hall of Honor night. The Browns loss combined with little faith may mean a ton of empty seats form the start. The only thing Pittsburgh hates more than mediocre football is watching mediocre football at night.
