Problem is that people have no patience. They expect Trump or any other politician to just roll up with a magic wand and fix everything in about 15 seconds because they said they would. Trump also doesn’t help himself when he says that prices will be lower on day one and stuff like that. It creates unrealistic expectations. There’s a poll on FoxNews that shows republicans and democrats are unhappy with the economy and a litany of other issues. It’s not great out there. Gas prices are better, but 10 grocery items shouldn’t cost $60 or $70. The shutdown didn’t help him either, regardless of who is to blame. In my opinion, I believe the main purpose of the tariffs was to get financial, manufacturing, and contractual agreements that would bring back many jobs in trillions of dollars of an investmentto this country from overseas.
It also had a unexpected secondary benefit in the Geo political landscape. I don’t think any people I don’t believe many of us thought there would not be some short term discomfort.
It has definitely achieved both of those goals

Sure, for steel, pharmaceuticals, chips, etc that makes sense. In my opinion, I believe the main purpose of the tariffs was to get financial, manufacturing, and contractual agreements that would bring back many jobs and trillions of dollars of investments this country from overseas.

I get it, we have different opinions on this tariff issue, but It seems to be more a semantics thing than real differences.which country?
No, they cannot as its attached to coffee. They can choose coffee or not, like Covid shots or not.
Dude, free markets do not have tariffs attached willy nilly, at the whim of anyone. Check your terms.
No, it was put in place by Trump, then removed by Trump. How is that not governmental control? If water was tariffed, would you also suggest that water tariff is voluntary?
A stupid coffee tax is kinda similar to the the start of the Boston Tea thingy, right?I get it, we have different opinions on this tariff issue, but It seems to be more a semantics thing than real differences.
