Good post Tape!ESPN was started by sports fans. They hired sports fans who cared about sports. Then they were bought by Disney, who cares about entertainment. From that point, they stopped caring about sports and only cared about entertainment. Reporting and analyzing sports became an afterthought to creating storylines.
They started hiring "personalities" to create narratives rather than talking sports. That started the slide. It went off the cliff when they began pushing politics. People watch sports to escape that stuff. But again, they were no longer run by sports people, so they didn't understand that.
The result was the rise of podcasts an independent sports websites. You would now get better sports discussion on a message board or a blog, or youtube than on ESPN. They grew in popularity.
Now ESPN is so lost that they have to buy sports people. They had to buy McAfee. They recently bought Bussin with the Boys.
If ESPN were to lose the NFL, they'd have less viewers than the Hallmark Channel. Actually, aside from live sports, I wouldn't be surprised if their ratings are already less.
I don't pay for that crap. It's the city dump. Just like Facebook. Do you want to pick through the garbage at the city dump?
All you need to see.

This long ago?
they turned “NFL today” into “NFL the view!” I went on there and said that being funny and they blocked me! No sense of humor! But I hate words like “delicious” and “spicy” being used in conversations about football. And man do they hate our qb for being his own man! They hate that!I have a hard time with their football coverage. NFL Network too. I'm not anti-woman, but I do not want 3 women and 1 male talking to me about the NFL.
I understand having female sportscasters talk about tennis, basketball, swimming, golf, gymnastics, softball - hell even baseball. Those are sports both women and men play and they can provide valuable insight...because they've played the game.
But football? Come on, I don't want a runway blonde model talking to me about the three technique.
[topic that cannot be discussed in this forum] has pushed the envelope too far in certain ways, and ESPN is one the largest perps of it.
"Hey you kids, get off my lawn!"seems they are purposfully ignoring my demographic.
yeah ok... as if youre not in the same one."Hey you kids, get off my lawn!"
I'm still 39!yeah ok... as if youre not in the same one.

Wouldn't mind if she shows the spread out formation technique either.
This thread made me reminice about the good old days of HBO's Inside the NFL with Len Dawson, Nick Buoniconti, and Jerry Glanville. I got to watch it as an Airmen on the Armed Forces Network over seas. I always pictured Len punching Jerry in the gut after each show and then lighting a cigarette and downing Jack Daniels to keep from killing him. HAHA
