Ole Miss CB Senquez Golson is "undersized at 5-foot-9 and 185 pounds, but he's fearless in coming up in run support," wrote ESPN's Todd McShay.
"Occasionally he'll simply get outmuscled by bigger receivers -- this was the case against Auburn's Sammie Coates -- but for the most part, he plays much bigger than his size," McShay wrote. "He's also a big-time playmaker, having come down with nine interceptions in 2014 and 16 for his career. He's really good at jockeying for position and has excellent ball skills for a corner." NFL Media draft analyst Lance Zierlein compares Golson, who led the SEC with 10 interceptions in 2014, to Brent Grimes. The analyst ranked Golson No. 9 amongst corners but wrote that "Golson has Pro Bowl potential." Apr 23 - 9:58 PM

So the talking heads like him. Is he any good?

With Eli Harold and Randy Gregory on the board, we reach across the Sahara for a tiny 4th round nickel back.

Terrible pick. A true waste.

I've watched him many times. He's a ball hawk. I live close to Oxford and get to see all their games. He is small but he can track and catch the ball. He can be over powered at times by big WRs but he is tenacious.

will he be more than a slot corner? I get he could be good there...... just think it might be a reach................

I like hearing that. Figure cb was a huge need and sounds like some in this site it was a bad pick but I'm happy to hear dude can ball.

Not impressed.

I guess the Steelers felt pressured to draft a corner. But with Gregory still there, they should have grabbed him. (Same mistake they made with Burfict.)

Gregory it is said missed a draft meeting and was late for another besides lying about his blunt usage. I think the Steelers simply didn't want the hassle of having to assign someone to watch him............

can he play on the outside effectively?

I actually liked this guy but in the third. If the Steelers don't think he'll make it then that's fine by me. You guys have to realize that there are NO PLAYMAKERS in the secondary. Will Gay flashed a little last year by sheer recognition skills but outside of that no one was turning the ball over in that unit. It is pitiful. Troy in his prime was the best in that dept that the Steelers have had in years. They are clearly searching for someone with elite ball skills.

He isn't a shutdown corner but he is one of those guys that you have to be careful with if you are a QB. He struggles some in man to man and but he is a good zone defender. He is probably more of a nickel DB which is why most think he was a reach in the 2nd round. He's been projected in the 3rd to 4th round.

So how many 5'9" DBs are in the NFL? How many good ones?

******* stupid pick.

We need a ballhawk in the backfield I really don't care about his height since from all accounts he has the heart and will go fight for any balls thrown his way. Without Troy there anymore we need someone that can take away the ball and be some sort of difference maker. Here is to hoping Dupree & Golson are key cogs that makes our defense substantially better not only now but in future years.

We could have just passed on this pick if this was the best player on our board.

Honestly, this is Troy Edwards part II.

without trading up in the 3rd, if Golson is their BPA for need, then you have to take him where they did. It's a risk to pick him at #56, trade up in the 3rd round or stay put hoping he is still there.

Bob Sanders was good for one season!

Don't worry Steeler Nation...opening night when the Pats line up Gronk across from Golson there's only a 90lb difference in weight and Gronk is 10" taller too. Nothing would be more embarrassing on opening night than to see Gronk catch one and carry Golson into the endzone on his back or become a speed bump as Gronk runs over him on nationally televised game!

GOD AWFUL PICK MAN! Sorry....he's a reach! He would have been there in the 3rd round and possibly in the 4th also. JUST ****** AWFUL!!!

Steelers need to trade up and take WR Strong.

I'm still not sold on Wheaton or Bryant.

But watch the Patriots take him.

I was looking at Brice's measurable s to compare. Brice was slightly bigger and faster.

thing for me is if this guy is a nickle corner, why neglect the outside? while letting Brice walk.

I will of course keep a open mind and see if he can help the secondary out.... but there is question marks. Perhaps more than I would have liked with a 2nd round selection................

I was hoping someone like Golson would be their second cb taken. They will grab another one too. I'm not real happy about Golson in the 2nd but his height is his only problem.

Yer not sold on Bryant? I've now discounted 90% of what you've previously written :)
