Steelers have traded for Jalen Ramsey.

this came out of left field, and I literally laughed out loud...WHAT?! lol
I guess you were taking a long winter’s nap when he and Cam barked at each other. Also multilpe players called someone out last year on defense for trying to make hero plays. Minkah, no doubt .. Enjoy the remainder of your existence.

Stocking up on draft picks. Questionable roster decisions. Seems like they are setting themselves up to take a dive on the season and get into better position to draft a top 1st round QB next draft.

Minkah will be an All-Pro this year. Mark it down. They completely neutered him in our defense.

Miami fired the best DC in the game Vic Fangio because the players complained he coached them too hard. They’re soft. Minkah hating life aside from lower taxes in FL.

This reminds me of last offseason. I do like the TE addition.

This whole thing will hinge on the OL playing above the line in pass protection and defensive scheme not being the carbon copy failure of the last decade plus.

I’m under the opinion that while we (the fans) see things one way:
Minkah is being paid like a top FS but underperforming for what we are paying him.
Must be contrasted with the player/agency for Minkah’s best situation for getting paid at the end of this contract:
I’m being played in a position/scheme that doesn’t allow me to be a highlight reel/impact player and it hurts my stock.

Imo, Minkah doesn’t want to further diminish his future payday potential.

JPJ is young. Do not move him out of his natural position. We don't want to see another player ruined by Tomlin having him play out of his natural position. Ramsey or Slay can play S, especially if they've already played it in their careers.

Johnuu Smith may have just solved the WR2 issue. You now have big targets Metcalf, Smith and Freiermuth. The #2 wr should have easier coverages to beat.

You have a good 3 TE set now for short yardage.
Now Tomlin can finally get back to the bubble screen as an offensive staple

My opinion of Minkah has always been that he is a ball hawk if allowed to play that way. I also have seen that he has had trouble with assignments and reactions when forced to play within a system. The last couple of years there has been talk of a D player not pulling his weight and I thought it was Minkah. Tomlin’s D is all about the scheme, something I feel Minkah has a problem with. Now if the D was a 10 man scheme and Minkah had no responsibilities and could just be a ball hawk, I think he excels. The FS position needs a Ryan Clark type of player not Ed Reed.

This is another reason I like the trade, Ramsey has played inside and outside at a high level, he’s extremely versatile, physical and good size for a db. It would not surprise me if he eventually moved to safety, wherever they decide to use him, our pass defense has really improved.
I think so but not sure it will be an eventually. I think they start converting him from the get go- immediately in training camp.

Just heard them on the Fan, could JPJ move to Safety?
Really don’t think so. He is more of a press corner not an off the ball safety. I think it is either Ramsey at FS or Thornhill who is another option.

This move is the opposite of tanking. If they were tanking, they would not have Rodgers, and they would have traded Minkah for draft picks and a mid level player.

I don't see it either other than he has the size to be intimidating if he embraced it.

I was debating Minkah’s range earlier. But there is still an underlying possible element when that D was in disarray that it was easy to blame Sutton. But my eyes on some big plays never saw Minkah in the zip code.

My theory is the Steelers started to see a drop off.

If you have a drop off at FS where do you move the player to?

If you have Ramsey starting to drop off you Rod Woodson move him to FS or the slot.

Then we have JS the guy is a TE upgrade. You can no longer double team DK. You just put JS and Pat and DK on the field at the same time.

My opinion but I believe the Steelers fleeced the Dolphins…

Unless Ramsey is just overjoyed with the idea of playing safety I don’t see it. He hasn’t been the best attitude guy over the years so this type of change is hard to see working.

It is 3 solid corners with him, Slay, and Porter if all can stay healthy.

Who is playing safety next to Elliott??

Smith, Muuuth, DK, and Washington in the redzone should be tough to cover if they have the brains to use them properly. Through in one of our receiving RB's out of the backfield and things get even tougher on the D.

It couldnt' be more obvious that he's been tryiing to avoid a catastrophic inury for the last few yearsn and get paid. He makes a bunch of open field tackles after the guy already has the 1st down. F that. I was sick of looking at him and Pickens. Man this would be a treat if Tomlick left as well after this season.

so, on obvious passing downs, we'll roll out...

DK, Muth, Jonnu, Roman and CA3

and on short yardage, we roll out
DK, Muth, Jonnu and another OL(?)

with the set of the 5 OL, Aaaaaaaaaron and either Warren or Caleb

We don't have to look at Minkah, Najee or George anymore. So glad to see a different look this season. BUT, we go nowhere until Tomlick is gone. We just aren't a serious organization with that clown.

they can fix this by bringing in Julian Blackmon from the Colts. he's only 26.

There are several quality safeties out on the market. Hopefully they had been talking to 1 or 2 prior thinking this deal.
