Pickens being traded to Dallas?

hell of a lot more than a bunch of 3rds to move up. I have no idea how this season will go,but assuming we draft anywhere from 15-21st. I’m not a college football guy. I hear a lot about Manning and hey….maybe he goes #1. But the guy has thrown for 94 passes in his career and would be nuts to declare in my humble opinion. Especially with the financial security now available in the college market. And for us to move up that far would take multiple firsts. So I am also assuming there are multiple QB’s with potential to be drafted in say the top 20. I know you’ve
Windy made a really good point on another board.

That the point of having the 3rds isn't that we're going to trade our 1st and 3x 3rds to move up.

The point of the 3rds is to have good picks left after we trade something like our 1st, 2nd, and next years 1st.

Maybe even use some of those picks to trade back up into the 2nd after we use the best draft capital to move up.

I’m aligned with full rebuild..
No problem here.
If this is what they were talking about, I wouldn't be against it either.

But you know that Rooney is going to come out sometime in the off season and talk about how the goal is to win the SB.

If it's a full rebuild, roll with Mason and transition to Howard at the end of the season. Play the young guys. Don't trade a 2nd round pick for a WR and then give him a huge contract.

I said I was wrong, didn't I? Again, why do you have to be such a douche? We don't know if they botched it because we don't have all the information and never will. You are welcome to think so but who knows? If he flames out, they will look like good in the end. I was shocked by it after they kept him during the draft but who know what has happened since. If you have some unknown insight please share.
Must defend crappy coach and owner….hahaha

You bash me for reading comprehension, again this is what you said:

“They never intended to trade Pickens. That was entirely a creation of the media and fans.”

It’s you who claimed to have some ironclad knowledge and bashed anyone who suggested he’s on the way out. Just like you bash anyone who dares to criticize the architect of the disgusting decline of this team and the owner who enables him

It’s hilarious that you can’t admit the way this was handled has unecessarily left a gaping hole in the WR room. All they had to do was get this done pre draft or just draft a WR fairly early as they had to know they wanted him gone in the near future, but hey it will give you an excuse to defend Tomlin with this fall when the offense scores 6 points in a first half and call everyone who criticizes it a hater so you’re probably happy about it

Tomlin sucks and you suck, That is all

I figured they wanted to do a Ricky Williams type trade. 😁

Again unlike you I admitted I was wrong. Try it sometime. We can’t all be perfect like Coolie.

It’s not Pickens’ responsibility to stand up and cheer for the DK signing or even make an overture to him. His job is to go to work and be the best WR he can be when the season starts.

This does feel like the KP situation all over again. Players not accepting that the game is all about competing with someone. These young players don’t seem to think they need to do that, they just want it handed to them.
Bingo.

I blame all of this on the NIL program.

College athletes are being paid TOO MUCH TOO EARLY and it's setting the wrong precedent for their long term career in the NFL. They learn how to quit a program that won't let them play (right away) and continue to try to find greener pastures by leaving or doing something to move them to another program.

None of us know and we can speculate all day - every day; but, I'll day this again, planning for the 2026 draft when you haven't even played this season is stupid...

Aside from the "Lloyds" I can't recall the last time that was a discussion. Mostly it is a heat of the game issue. We have certainly had plenty of reasonable discussions over the months. The Lloyds are the ones bringing up the antagonism. I admitted being wrong, I never see either of them ever do that.
I was just fun'n with you. I seriously wish I had your continuous optimism. These last handful or two of seasons have sucked it out of me.

I'm not sure I'd go that far:
The past 3 seasons
DK-226 catches-3154 yards-19TD's
GP-174 catches-2841 ayrds-12TD's

I wasn't for paying any WR big money until we thought we had our QB though.
They are close over the past 3 seasons. They gave away pickens and gave DK top 4 WR $$
I would have no problem if he was Jefferson or Lamb.
He isn't in the same universe as a top 5 NFL WR

At the expense of sounding arrogant: you and I have clashed originally because I dared to say Pickett wasn’t the answer and you labeled me a hater. I wasn’t wrong

I also argue Tomlin is running this team into the ground and Rooney is enabling him. The past 7 seasons strongly suggest me and many others who agree with me are right too

You’ve consistently done your holier than thou **** behavior towards people criticizing the lousy play of the team, you reap what you sow *** hat

Between FBS and FCS there are over 250 division 1 programs 136 FBS, 129 FCS... so high end recruits can now just find a team willing to pay them to start
There are only 32 NFL teams... so if you want to start, you have to put in effort...

The NIL/transfer portal thing is why teams are now adding "desire to play/ competitiveness" to scouting profiles... cause these dudes arent trying to work to get paid... they just want to coast

All these people that say players can now just stay in college and take the NIL money aren't accounting for debilitating injury. The NIL money in college is almost the same as signing a franchise tag, though at a lower dollar value. Most players don't want a one year tag because if injured they lose out on money going forward. If a player stays in college to get NIL $$, they are risking missing out on the $$$$ the pro contracts offer.

I don't think the Manning family would risk the HUGE money Arch could get in the Pros for the smaller NIL money in college if he plays well this year.

Well would say you are absolutely arrogant and angry. Lesson learned, don’t even try to have a civil conversation with you and admit being wrong to something.

Look at the bright side, I found PSL’s for about $1,000 each seat. If things stay good at work and I get my daughters wedding paid I might get two season tickets PSL’s on the secondary market cheap. Wish it wasn’t a 4 hour drive.

Most of the top guys are taking out big insurance policies while playing in college against future earnings.

Honestly, I think who has the top pick will drive when underclassman top qbs come out...

Let's be clear.

Do you think Arch will be "NFL-ready" after only one full year starting at QB1 in college?

He could (and I will never wish injury on any player) get hurt this season and have to come back for another opportunity in '26...

A lot of people are saying Manning will be at Texas 2 more years. Those boosters will pony up and pay a lot to keep him if he plays well this year. Too bad too, all our picks are for 2026 to move up then. I’m all in on Manning. Yes he has to prove it on the field but I’d say the odds are pretty good he’s gonna be a good pro.

I think we are dooming the kid with hype when he has barley seen the field. He could flop. Who knows. Someone none of us are talking about could be the top pick. It is a crap shoot completely.

It's crazy that they got Williams to pose in that wedding gown in that day and age.
