Heard on the Fan that Moore has signed with the Bucs as well as Dwayne Bowe signing with the Browns and as reported earlier on the Patrick Robinson thread, signed with the Chargers.

Really thought we'd sign at least one of those CB's as depth.

only guy worth a look is Charles Tillman. Hopefully Colbert's plan is trade up for Waynes or trade down gather extra picks and late
round 1 OLB Harold rnd 2 CB Kevin Jhonson/Marcus Peters
3 S Harris/CB 3 via trade Olumu/OLB Mauldin/DT Bennett
4 RB Langford 5 CB Gunter

zachari bowmann could be worth a look

it looks like they have a deal in principle with Deebo and as for CB the focus is the draft, as for the future lolb they are very interested in Dupree MT had dinner with him after his pro day, as of walter's latest he is a top 10 if this is a realistic scenario Orchard in rnd 2 is almost or better, Harold well get sacks but like Worlids there will be questions with him, vs the run but he has the heart and passion that say a young Woodley once showed at Michigan and before he got mega rich.

As For size at CB I don't care if if it is going to be a 6"1 or 5"10 CB with Butler involving a 4-3 and with DL out of the picture we may see maybe some Tampa 2, which means in these scenarios closing speed and staying stride for stride is going to be more important than run support from the CB position.
This is why I would love Olumu, Darby, Jhonson or Carter in round 2.

It rolls over to next year...

that's fine and all, but we need help now. Rookies can help just so much. Our defense scares me every day that goes by. Oh and what if Ike Taylor comes back out of necessity? That's a real possibility, too.

So do the needs at corner and olb and other places on the team. The last time we traded up in the draft we traded a future pick that was higher position wise than the place we were in when we traded, was not a good move and we took Laundry Jones.

We traded up to take Shamarko. Landry was taken with our normal 4th round pick.

I see what you did there. . .

Kyle Wilson might be had for cheap.

OMG we didn't sign a corner... and free agency is over too!! oh wait...

Sometimes I think you people just want them to sign ANYONE to make you happy, that way you can ***** when they bomb. McCain wasn't a lauded pick up, was one of the worst CB's in the league in 2013, he was forced into action by injuries and mental break downs and made the most of it. It was a surprise, it was not expected.

Again, I don't think the FO is looking at starters or possible future starters at CB in FA, and there's clearly nothing nor was there really anything to get all worked up about at OLB either. There's still PLENTY of time before OTA's and mini camps. Try taking a deep breath, count to ten, and relax.

Did you REALLY want one of NO's CB's? Their D was HORRIBLE (we were never getting Lewis back in a trade), so you move on to the next savior of the team Sterling who? Most of the board including myself had never even heard the guys name before they mentioned he was coming in for a visit.

I mean hell, there's 40 some days before the draft even happens, but ****, we better sign someone soon because... well umm... I dunno just sign someone!!!

I don't think it's that at all. The Steelers had two clear holes entering the offseason: cornerback and outside linebacker. They re-signed Moats, a backup, and allowed their second-best cornerback to leave for a relatively low contract. Look who they have left:

CB:
Gay - a solid starter, but probably best as a nickel.
Allen - paid like a starter and was benched last year. Probably forced to start this year.
Blake - good special teams player and decent No. 4/5. Can he be more than that?
Webb - haven't seen anything from him yet.

OLBs:
Jones - has had numerous injuries and has a lot of questions.
Moats - good backup, full-time starter? not sure about that.
I'm not counting on the depth players.

That roster is more thin than it was last year. Now they are forcing themselves to drafting these positions early not just to find talent, but to fill out the depth chart. These aren't the Steelers of the 2000s where they had a veteran in place for a year or two while a rookie developed. The outside linebacker market is dried up right now and the cornerback market isn't much better.

Moore started all 16 games for Dallas. He was a nobody? If that's the case, why was he brought in for a visit? Nobody was looking for Robinson or Moore to be the savior of the DBs, but we could use some experienced depth. Our next shutdown corner will come from the draft. I think we all get that.
Cortez Allen scares the Hell out of me and Ike is done, plus we lost McCain. Just looking for some help back there. If the two guys they brought in were out of our price range, that's fine, too. The heard is getting thin, that's what was concerning me.

Everything is going to be OK! Everybody remain calm!

All is well! Remain, calm!!!;)

Well, Ark I sit corrected. However the point remains that we traded a pick in the next years draft that was of a position of order higher than we were. That is why I don't like to trade future picks. Now if we were in the top 15 and likely to make a run at the playoffs a future pick would be decent.

Interesting that since we signed no one there was not anyone there who was better than what we had, really? There was talent out there as many of those guys were signed by other teams. Snyder and Jerry did not sign all of them. The team missed an opportunity to add talent at positions of need that could have been ready to play on day one. I really doubt that anyone expects to find the next Rod Woodson or Deion Sanders in this draft after draft pick 21. It is also unlikely that the next GREAT pass rusher will be grabbed by this bunch of talent evaluators. It could happen but history is against them.

I hope the guys manage to find two stars for our defense in the draft as that is likely the only choice now. It is also unlikely that the guys that could not make a teams 53 man roster will be better than what was available in free agency. The failure to find one guy a year in free agency of late will add up.

It really was not that long ago when we had solid starters on D,with depth behind them. This has certainly changed in the last few years. It seems I have been thinking draft corners first or second round at least for the past 3 years. Now of course we are the victims sometimes of our own success where we will lose players due to free agency and of course our usually low selection in the draft order.

But this is why we all get a little pissed when we arogantly waste a 3rd rounder on a fellow mentioned in a 100+ page thread. Certainly not his fault, but purely our management team, along with questionable extensions out of what seems like desperation.

With our schedule next year,it will be a make or break time. Somebody must be held accountable soon. To be positive, perhaps a championship year and contract extensions. On the negative, change must happen. Sooner rather than latter.

I'm well aware of who and what we have on the roster. I never said that we don't need help in those positions. I'm just not ready to just start grabbing anyone off the street to fill up the depth chart. YOU might have seen talent in those positions, but obviously the FO and coaching staff saw things differently. Maybe they didn't like his attitude, maybe during a workout they saw something they didn't like, maybe they had injury concerns, or maybe they just didn't feel they were worth what they were asking for. Just because it's a "low" contract, doesn't mean they are worth that much.

So like I said above, just grab anyone right? Doesn't matter if they fit the scheme or not, doesn't matter if they can play zone or not, doesn't matter if they have bad attitudes, or aren't worth the contracts they were seeking, sign em anyway people!!!

June cuts are still around the corner, there's the vet combine, and of course the draft. All this panicking in March is ridiculous, is this a Steelers board or a Browns board?
