Sterling Moore to Bucs.

So like I said above, just grab anyone right? Doesn't matter if they fit the scheme or not, doesn't matter if they can play zone or not, doesn't matter if they have bad attitudes, or aren't worth the contracts they were seeking, sign em anyway people!!!

June cuts are still around the corner, there's the vet combine, and of course the draft. All this panicking in March is ridiculous, is this a Steelers board or a Browns board?

who is panicking? Don't be making a mountain out of a manhole. It's an observation of the state of the team at the current time. They brought in two corners and both signed with other teams. A position of need. Excuse us for expressing a concern there on a MESSAGE BOARD, but I'm sure the plan is well in place. All is good, so let's just keep caring on, as usual.

Read around the board, you'll see plenty of panic. Just look to the "why haven't we signed James Harrison yet?" posts. Plenty of panic around, expressing concern is one thing, acting like Browns fans is another. You have to be able to look at things reasonably to express concern, when you get tunnel vision is when you panic. These guys just want anyone signed...

I know we have needs, and concerns throughout the roster, but it's freaking March man. So much can happen between now and Sept. I'm not sweating us not signing a corner that NO or Dallas let go. People are upset that we let such low contracts get away, but neither of the teams those two players came from thought they were worth that much money either. Both of the teams that signed those corners had more cap room to sign a "prove it" deal and not have it hurt them if it doesn't pan out. I'm concerned, hell I wanted us to take a look at Chris Culliver, but he was well out of our price range.

You make a lot of valid points and I agree with what you say. A lot can happen throughout the summer. Maybe there's an unsettled feeling that other teams are improving, filling holes and the Steelers are standing pat for now. A lot of fans don't have the patience the FO has. We want things done yesterday. JH will sign at the last moment, as a last resort, like Keisel and he did last year. There shouldn't be any panic there. He will be playing for his last one-year deal. June 1st should get real interesting around here.

I think why I find all this so mind blowing, is this is how the Steelers have handled FA for the last 20 years. Nothing has changed, we always try to retain our own guys at our own price, we try to build through the draft, and we hit those 2nd and 3rd tier FA guys. We're never in a rush to get into bidding wars, we find the guys we like that fit the price we are willing to pay.

But every year, this place goes bananas when we don't sign this guy or that guy, or how we're never active on the first few days of FA. Last year was a big shock with Mike Mitchell (and people are already bitching about how it was a horrible signing), it was out of the ordinary, this year was back to the status quo.

I'm well aware of who and what we have on the roster. I never said that we don't need help in those positions. I'm just not ready to just start grabbing anyone off the street to fill up the depth chart. YOU might have seen talent in those positions, but obviously the FO and coaching staff saw things differently. Maybe they didn't like his attitude, maybe during a workout they saw something they didn't like, maybe they had injury concerns, or maybe they just didn't feel they were worth what they were asking for. Just because it's a "low" contract, doesn't mean they are worth that much.

Right, this is a discussion board, correct? I have legitimate concerns that the Steelers are going to reach for an outside linebacker or cornerback over a more talented player because they haven't done a good job filling the position over the past few offseasons.

Losing McCain, and not signing any corners in FA does not concern me one bit. Id rather take a chance on who we still have and/or new drafted players than overpay for guys that are clearly 2nd and 3rd tier. There has been talk of us "lowballing" Moore and Robinson, thats a bunch of hooey. They want to be overpaid their worth (ala mccain by the fins), fine, let someone else do it.
