Maybe they ink Robinson today?

Are you new or something? Repeat after me:

They would look good in black and gold. They weren't used properly by the Saints. Our coaching staff can turn them around.

But he's already been black and gold...

sounds like all the "measurables" are in place for a perfect Steeler Free Agent signing...

Former number one pick
Has not played to expected level
Health gamble
Need position

He won't leave Pittsburgh without a contract Monday.

I am mixed as I look closer on Robinson.
Looks like he did well in stretches then there was lapses.
Then some Saints fan said they had him in the slot where he played better.

If this be the case wouldn't the Steelers still need a outside corner?

I don't know about you but I have zero confidence in Allen rebounding.

We already have a Robinsonish player (as far as combine measurables) in BW Webb. What Webb lacks is Robinson's experience. Hopefully having spent the last year under Lake's tutelage has helped him progress. Not against the Robinson signing at all. Hell, we need all the CB help we can get. I'm just saying don't be surprised if they believe that Webb's anticipated growth is part of the solution to the problem.

Robinson is player #1 and Webb player #2.

538 total yards of offense is containing?

How many points did they give up? The team with the most yards does not win. In the end that is what determines the out come of the games.

They gave up 32 points, but that game wasn't about the Saints containing anyone. It was about the Steelers not containing Drew Brees and his FIVE TD passes. Neither D showed up in that game, and the Saints were no slouch on offense last year.

I hate logic sometimes...

I hate logic sometimes...

thing is measurables don't always compute with instincts and confidence / experience

Robinson has starting experience and has shown ability ......Webb hasn't and for how good Lake may be a teaching. It is a stretch to think that he can work miracles.

As in the light will go on for some and some it won't.

This is a league you don't want to put a lot of faith in guess work.

If I was putting a team together for the combine, I could buy into this. The second part of what you said (the experience, instincts, overall ability to actually play) is far more important and so far Robinson has shown he can at least get on the field.

The Saints smacked the Steelers in this game. They held them to 16 points and then the Steelers got two scores in garbage time against a defense that wasn't interested in trying to stop them.

Patrick Robinson is in town. I hope we sign him.

Here's what you need to know. Robinson was hurt and only played 2 games in 2013. Throw that year out. In 2011, 2012, and 2014 Robinson had 9 interceptions and 44 passes defended. On average this is 3 interceptions and 14.6 PD's a year.

I'd call him an upgrade over McCain, but still think we need to draft a corner high in this draft.

if we sign Robinson every priority in the draft should be directed to OLB

I think if he checks out physically then yes I think he's an upgrade over McCain. I think too much has been made of McCain being this big loss when in fact he was just a so so player. I still think we need to get another CB but it looks like that happens in the draft.

Get to the damn qb and these CB's look a lot better

Can he walk?

Knee issues...ouch

Two torn patellar tendons...

Patrick Robinson named New Orleans Saints’ recipient of the Ed Block Courage Award

Robinson’s teammates voted him as the club’s winner based on his work ethic and perseverance in successfully rehabilitating from two major knee injuries suffered in 2013, almost three months apart.

In June 2013, he injured his patellar tendon and underwent surgery and an ardent rehabilitation to return to the team in training camp. However, in the second week of the regular season in a contest at Tampa Bay on Sept. 15, he ruptured the same patellar tendon, which required season-ending surgery. He then went through more than 10 months of aggressive rehabilitation to return to the field for 2014 training camp.

Robinson, the club’s first round draft pick in 2010, has appeared in eight games with two starts in 2014 and has posted 19 tackles (13 solo), one interception, five passes defensed and four special teams tackles, to tie a career-high.

He's been a productive player for three seasons. I think he's an upgrade over McCain, and can start for us.

And Cortez Allen has great measurables. So does Darius Heyward-Bey. So your comparison means exactly jack **** to me.

This is a true statement Tom. That will be the key this season and Jarvis Jones has to produce this year. I have no idea about the other side since we didn't address in F/A so I imagine that comes in the draft with our first pick who I hope is Bud Dupree if he's there. In the meantime looks like Moats will man the position until our high draft pick is ready.

Assuming healthy, I don't think there is any doubt that Robinson would be an upgrade over McCain.

we still need to go OLB/CB or CB/OLB in 1/2.

If a free agent still doesn't have a job in week 2 of FA, it probably means that he is a crapshoot or a project. The Steelers might get lucky, but can't go thru the draft assuming luck...

yeap we need to develop a high rookie CB too, just saying that having Gay, Allen, Robinson and Blake we'd already have a decent group of CBs but without no serious rush they will all get toasted more often than not

I by no means am going to disagree with you but this class of CB's is pretty deep and we can find some real good value later in the draft as well. Shaw, Darby, Rowe, Glenn, Gaines, Doss and Gunter are all guys that I feel could turn into steals from the 3rd round down. OLB however has me scared and I would have no problem if we went that 1-2. The more I look at this draft the more I am thinking Harold/Durpee is out guy at 1 and follow him with Orchard/Kikaha and OLB fixed.....I hope! It seems to me that there are many more later round hits at CB then OLB and there is nothing.....nothing left for us in free agency to pick from at OLB.

If only the need at LB had been anticipated in the past couple drafts....

it was addressed: Worilds and Jarvis Jones both high picks, they just chose wrong

almost 4pm ... no news... appears unlikely we sign Robinson unless this one is still going on, but there's not much on twitter from the Steelers beat-writers.
