Might as well start a thread of them

Reggie Bush
Jacoby sideline walker Jones
Ted Ginn

and many more to follow

Bush is 29... right on the cusp of maybe having a year left in the tank... don't know if he wants to be the backup but he might be an option

The more running back cuts, the better for the Steelers. Flood the market with potential backups.

Lions Cut Reggie Bush

The Detroit Lions cut running back Reggie Bush on Wednesday.

Signed before the 2013 season, Bush's time in Detroit did not go as well as many expected. Over the course of two seasons, Bush tallied 1,303 rushing yards and six touchdowns. He added 759 receiving yards and three touchdown receptions.

After a decent start to 2013, Bush fizzled and ended up splitting time with undrafted free agent Joique Bell, who more than doubled Bush's output in 2014.

Turnovers and his inability to consistently catch the ball out of the backfield were Bush's downfall in 2013, leaving the door open for Bell and Theo Riddick to get more opportunities.

Head coach Jim Caldwell told reporters recently that the team's 28th-ranked running game needed to improve heading into 2015.

"For the most part I just think that we just have to be a little bit better just in terms of getting our running game off to a start better earlier in the year," Caldwell said, according to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press. "But I think we've got to do some of the same things we did before. I think if we don't turn the ball over, give ourselves the opportunity, I think it's going to be fine."

The move will reportedly save the team $1.7 million against the cap. That money is expected to be used in an effort to re-sign Pro Bowl defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh.

Bush, who turns 30 in March, is likely to draw a lot of interest from teams around the league. The Lions are expected to address the running back position in the draft.

Think he would take a back up roll to LeVeon Bell?

He might be a good option, but I would be patient, till after the draft. I wonder if his ex-girlfiend would come along with the deal?

Packers Release AJ Hawk

The Green Bay Packers have cut another member of their linebacking corps.

Green Bay released A.J. Hawk on Wednesday, the team announced.

The move will save the Packers $3.5 million in cap space, and comes five days after the team parted ways with Brad Jones.

"I spent nine great years in Green Bay. I had awesome teammates and coaches and a great medical staff and equipment staff. Many of them have become my closest friends," Hawk said. "We won a ton of games, as well as a Super Bowl, and I loved everything about playing for one of the greatest franchises in all of sports."

Hawk was effective for many years in Green Bay, but it was evident in 2014 that he was no longer the player he once was. His foot speed slipped and Hawk struggled in coverage against opposing tight ends.

Look for the Packers to address the inside linebacker spot early in the draft.

Decent player to bring in for some added veteran play. May be too used up, but May be worth a good look.

Which one? Hopefully not the one married to Kanye West. Lol

Yea, the bubble (hardened synthetic lard) ***. Thought maybe she would take turns with said fans, making porn movies...........

FYI, there is a cap casualty where we are going to post all of the cuts.

When AJ was drafted, I'd wanted the steelers to get him. I was disapointed they didn't get him as Green Bay moved up just infront of us, to get him. Happy after football life AJ !!!

Just got caught up and noticed this and the AJ Hawk post are already mention in the post about Cap Casualties.

Mods can you clean me up to reduce the redundancy and alleviate the "dumbasses it's in another thread" comments? My oops.

No thanks, he will be pricey and we already have an overload of ILBs on the roster

If not Bush, then what about these FA Running Backs? Score reports these backs are possible to move and list potential landing spots.

DeMarco Murray
Height: 6'0"
Weight: 217 lbs.
Age: 27

2014 stats: 1,845 yards rushing, 13 TDs, 57 receptions, 416 yards receiving

Murray was a monster in 2014, carrying the overachieving Cowboys' offense for much of the season en route to Offensive Player of the Year honors. The Cowboys reportedly want their star tailback back, but are hesitant to pay top dollar after the free agent running-backs market bottomed out last offseason. They may not be alone in viewing Murray as a depreciating asset. Murray touched the ball a staggering 497 times in 2014 (including playoffs) and history is littered with running backs who produced one huge season and never sniffed that level of production again.

Potential Landing Spots: Dallas Cowboys, Atlanta Falcons, Jacksonville Jaguars

Mark Ingram
Height: 5'9"
Weight: 215 lbs.
Age: 25

2014 stats: 964 yards rushing, 9 TDs, 29 receptions, 145 yards receiving

Ingram finally came into his own in the last year of his rookie deal. Whether it was because he finally got healthy or he finally got hungry with free agency around the corner will be a tricky question for teams to answer. If Ingram stays healthy and runs as hot as he did in 2014 for years to come, he could be a tremendous bargain for a team in need of a ground-and-pound runner.

Potential Landing Spots: Buffalo Bills, Dallas Cowboys, Jacksonville Jaguars

C.J. Spiller
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 200 lbs.
Age: 27

2014 stats: 300 yards rushing, 19 receptions, 125 yards receiving

Spiller doesn't have the consistent production of some of those below him on this list, but his age and upside make him a more attractive free-agent target for teams that like to take big swings. It's fading from memory, but Spiller's magical 2012 campaign – he rushed for six yards per carry and topped 1,200 yards – proved he can be a game-changer. Since 2012, he's battled injuries and rarely looked like the same dynamic player. A 50-50 split in a timeshare with the potential to carve out more carries should be what Spiller seeks.

Potential Landing Spots: New York Jets, Buffalo Bills, Baltimore Ravens

Justin Forsett
Height: 5'8"
Weight: 197 lbs.
Age: 29

2014 stats: 1,266 yards rushing, 8 TDs, 44 receptions, 263 yards receiving

Very rarely does a 28-year-old player burst onto the scene in the NFL, but that's precisely what Forsett did in shocking fashion after signing with the Baltimore Ravens and ascending the depth chart following Ray Rice's suspension. The journeyman backup more than doubled his previous three seasons' rushing totals combined, proved a valuable asset as a receiver and scored as many touchdowns as he had in his entire seven-year career. Though he's no longer a young man, the lack of wear on his tires should boost his market value.

Potential Landing Spots: Baltimore Ravens, New York Jets, Denver Broncos

Frank Gore
Height: 5'9"
Weight: 217 lbs.
Age: 31

2014 stats: 1,106 yards rushing, 4 TDs, 11 receptions, 111 yards receiving, TD

Among the most under-appreciated players over the past decade, Gore hits free agency on the wrong side of 30. Though he topped 1,000 yards for the eighth time in nine years, Gore seemed to slow down in 2014 and it's likely the end is very near for him. A cheap, one-year deal on a contender might be the best he can get.

Potential Landing Spots: Indianapolis Colts, Denver Broncos, Arizona Cardinals

Ryan Mathews
Height: 6'0"
Weight: 220 lbs.
Age: 27

2014 stats: 330 yards rushing, 3 TDs, nine receptions, 69 yards receiving

Mathews' problem throughout his career has been durability. He simply can't stay healthy and likely won't convince a team to make him its featured back in free agency. Look for him to sign as the 1B option for a team with a young, unproven 1A rusher.

Potential Landing Spots: San Diego Chargers, San Francisco 49ers, Tennessee Titans

Shane Vereen
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 205 lbs.
Age: 25

2014 stats: 391 yards rushing, 2 TDs, 52 receptions, 447 yards, 3 TDs

Vereen boosted his value with an excellent performance in the Super Bowl. He's the ideal third-down complement for a team with an established back who grinds out yardage on early downs.

Potential Landing Spots: New York Jets, Pittsburgh Steelers, Denver Broncos

Other notable free-agent running backs

Reggie Bush
Darren McFadden
Stevan Ridley
Roy Helu
Ahmad Bradshaw
Jacquizz Rodgers

Interesting that one of the smallest backs is the only one listed as a possible interest for the Steelers. Played well in the SB, but can't recall many other big games From him.

I would guess it's because he's the cheapest of that bunch. I would't mind Helu.

Just found this on SB Nation. Hope it's true.

Steelers to Worilds: Take a look in free agency

I find this interesting that ESPN just reported this after Colbert said it when speaking with the media. The Steelers are not being shy about saying they'll allow Worilds to hit the FA market. Add that in with their restructures, which few listed as ways to save cap room has me wondering what they're up to. They still have some veterans they can cut like Keisel, Moore and Thomas. Polamalu could get cut or reduce his pay. Ben's new contract could free up space. Are the Steelers actually planning on making a play for a FA or is it all normal operating procedure?

Good thing Colbert is reading steelernation and taking advice

I agree. Something is brewing in the FO for a possible move towards an FA. Interesting Action though in the last couple of days. Plus, I read he is looking at 6.5 mil a year over a long term deal. When I find more I will post it.

Out of character, but Ben is in the final third of his career and the defense needs an impact player. Even an average defense this year and the Steelers will be in business.

From Behind the Steel Curtain...
Jason Worilds may not have lived up to his $9.75 million salary in 2014, but his market value suggests a deal in the $6-$7 million a year range is appropriate.

They stated that the Steelers are willing to give him that, but then reported that he will be allowed to test FA market. Wonder if they think he won't find bigger money elsewhere and will take their lower offer?
