2015 Running Back Prospects (Pre Combine)

I know what the thread is about ...my point was why waste a draft pick on a RB when the guy we draft probably wont be as effective as the guy we brought over from the practice squad. We have more pressing needs than backup RB. Id rather focus on CB, OT, S, OLB and TE.

The point others are trying to make is that there is going to be extreme value at the RB position in rounds 5 and 6. Josh Harris hasn't shown anything to make me feel that backup RB is not a priority. He looks good with his shirt off and runs fast, but that's all we know about him. My buddy who is a Wake Forest alum (and watches every game) described him as a "*****" because he was always pulling himself out of games after a carry or two and always dinged up. He did concede that Wake's O-line was horrible. At this point anything we get out of Harris should be seen as a bonus --- we can't count on him.

I would rather get great value with my 5th round draft pick (at a position of need) than count on Josh Harris to be the answer and pick up another Wesley Johnson, Crezdon Butler, Hawthorne (the list goes on and on) in the 5th...

Then go start a thread about those positions listed and why we shouldnt consider a rb in the draft

It shouldn't matter who they pick up or retain. Just give the ****** a brown nerf.

At least he won't fumble it and we know that's more or less legal now.

I'm going to say this once and once only. If you ******* want my draft opinion this year, keep the anti-patriots crap in the 20 other patriot threads going on around here.

You know my opinion on it. This site isn't called Anti-Patriot Nation.

I meant no offense. I merely point out that we don't need a running back. We simply need better players on the defensive side.

We had no running game in the playoffs because Bell was out and we didn't have adequate cover. That needs to be addressed either in FA or the draft.

Pats* suck. That's my opinion on it.

I'd address it in both areas. You bring in a cheap, dependable backup running back through FA (like they tried with Blount last year) on a two-year deal and then find a good back that slips in the draft. In one offseason, you rebuilt your running back depth and never have to rely on Archer to fill that role.

Wow. I appreciate your research, both the effort and the results, but this is a bit much

I like Ajayi's vision, similar body type to Bell as well, I think he'd be a nice back up capable of filling in if Bell were to miss a game or two.

He's an interesting prospect and could really blossom with the right coaching. There are rumors Belichick likes him as a 3rd/4th round guy and I can definitely see how he would fit that system a lot.

I just don't know if I trust our coaches to create a system where he can learn on the job. I think he will struggle a bit running the football at the next level as he adjusts to the speed of everything. His timing isn't there and he look inexperienced with setting up blocks and being patient. With our O-line play I just see a lot of frustration at first and not sure Tomlin/Haley will be patient enough or ease him into it slowly enough to get over that bump.

He's got all the tools to be a decent 3-down, versatile contributor to an offense.
