I know his issues with age and agility at this point, but even at his age, how many QBs in the league throw it as well as he does?

Finally gave up on Planet Steelers, came over here and saw quite a few posters I'm familiar with.

My opinion on the QB situation is we should tell AR we're not interested. If he can't decide he wants to be here by the start of the FA season (which he didn't), it has the potential to handcuff what we do. The time to start the earnest search for our next longer-term QB (I won't say the F-word, because there are very few in this league, IMHO).

What would I do? Trade for Spencer Rattler of the Saints (Shough is clearly their guy), and a draft QB in Round 3, 4 or 5, and let them compete with Howard. I would waive Rudolph after the draft if we draft a QB, add another camp QB.

Whoever wins the competition starts. The others get to play if QB1 falters. Give them all a good test-drive to see if you are looking for a new QB in 2027 or if you have something to develop. That is supposedly a strength of McCarthy, so let him try a few out.

I 100% believe the Steelers know Rodgers intention to play. He just won't go to OTAs etc

Hahaha, if we were sitting in the top 15 maybe, but I don't think teams are worried about us taking a QB in round 3 or later. And if Rodgers is here or not, I don't think that would/should stop us from taking a QB at any point in this draft.
I've seen this franchise think it's playing chess for year, in reality they've been playing Go Fish.

Well, it does though. Are the Steelers looking to draft a QB in round 1 as an assurance to Will Howard if he doesn't pan out? The Steelers could very well draft Ty Simpson or a Nussmeier in round 1 if they don't have a veteran (Rudy doesn't count) at the Helm. But that changes if discount double check is sitting on the roster. At least that is my perspective, but what the hell do I know. Why would the Steelers show their hand before the draft? Not only are they keeping you restless and agitated, but they're keeping the other 31 teams guessing on whether or not they're drafting a QB and if so, what round? It changes the draft strategy of those teams.

In other words, the Steelers are playing chess and you have the strategic aptitude to play marbles, maybe.

Yes a veteran that is 30ish, not a veteran thats almost as old as me that has no future, who is playing one more year, that wouldn't stop us from drafting Simpson or Nussmeier, hell GB took Love when Rodgers was still at the top of his game, if having Rodgers keeps us from drafting a QB in round 1, then our franchise is dumber than I thought.

I think maybe I'm just more pissed that we are going into our 5th season after Ben, and this is where we are with our QB situation. A bust and 4 washed up guys since then.

I don't think it stops us but there has to be one worth taking. In the first round I don't see one.

Tired of hearing about it too. With Tomlin gone, it sure seems like someone else is enamored with Rodgers.

It's just ridiculous to let a 43 year old QB hold your team hostage.

Why get these two Stallion wide receivers only to shackle them with Rodgers? Did they not see Rodgers throwing balls to the ground often being afraid to get hit? Did they not see how often he would miss open guys? I sure did. It wasn't a pretty site. And guess what? He's a year older this year; it doesn't get any better. It gets worse.

I’m in that same boat that what the **** have we been doing?

The circumstances are exactly the same each year and including this year even though the coaching staff has been turned over.

Artie and Tomlin as pair didn’t know jack-**** about QB managing or developement.

MM knows, but I think Artie is holding him back, he wants win now, no rebuild even though that is near what they are doing (except QB).

Doesn’t make any sense to me either.

Are we really sitting around waiting for Rodgers to decide when he wants to announce he's coming back or retiring? Are we allowing him to see if anyone else is interested? This isn't 33 year old Rodgers, this is the 43 year old version that can't move and doesn't want hit. It's the most important position in all of sports and we're sitting around letting a 43 year old QB that hasn't done anything for this franchise call the shots? It looks pretty pathetic.
If he's coming back, then F'ing say it, if he hasn't decided then tell him see ya.

There were people here that wanted a wet noodle armed Ben to come back...let's keep it real. Meanwhile GOAT can still make every throw at a ridiculous level of accuracy.
