Are we really sitting around waiting for Rodgers to decide when he wants to announce he's coming back or retiring? Are we allowing him to see if anyone else is interested? This isn't 33 year old Rodgers, this is the 43 year old version that can't move and doesn't want hit. It's the most important position in all of sports and we're sitting around letting a 43 year old QB that hasn't done anything for this franchise call the shots? It looks pretty pathetic.
If he's coming back, then F'ing say it, if he hasn't decided then tell him see ya.

with the draft next month, it sure would be nice to know where we stand with the geriatric QB we're so enamored with.

IMO, we should move on.

absolutely Aaron can read a defense like no one else and is almost a player/coach, but until Howard gets a chance we don't know what we do or do not have in him.

Im sure he has already told the front office what he is doing and this is all dramafor dramas sake

According to Dulac, the steelers arent using a top 3 round pick on a qb this year... it will be Rodgers or Will Howard starting.. he said that when people were floating Murray or Cousins to the Steelers too.. he has been adamant that it will be Rodgers and if he did opt to retire, they would just go with Howard and draft someone next year

I’ve been over the Rodgers ****-sizzle since before the Russel Wilson geriatric encounter.

This will be year two, could we not of had a QB somewhat developed by now???

I’d lay odds it wasn’t all on Tomlin, but both Artie & the Tomlin with Artie continuing the win now episode.

We will never move forward if no risk is taken.

Ultimately we will have Rodgers, like it or not. Draft Allar and you have the cerebral Howard & physical specimens with up-side Allar. Both behind Rodgers until mid season……………. Either Rodgers is hurt or frails, then insert newbie.

DO SOMETHING, don’t just sit at a 9-10 win season.

Dulac reported that Howard is Plan B. I think they're going to take a look at him in OTA's and minicamp and make the call then, one way or another.
I've heard this too, but I don't think I've ever seen or heard of a 6th round QB with zero NFL game experience including not even getting pre season game snaps being handed the starting job.

Alas, the time to do something was 5-6 years ago.

Colbert **** that bed and left us T biscuit and KFP as parting gifts in a very reactive move.

At some point one would think the new FO combo will want to take a swing at the most important position. Dinosaur QBs are definitely not a swing and neither is 1, singular 6th round pick at the position.

IMHO Dart was the move last year, he fell in our laps but someone was set on Rodgers (guessing Art Numbnuts). We got what appears to be a solid pick, cute…still does very little to move a needle towards contention like fixing the biggest issue for the last 5 years would.

Will they continually just stand their holding their dic while other teams fix their situation and get better than Steelers?
Slough looked like a possible prospect with some upside too.

There are starting QBs available in EVERY draft
Scheme fit and coaching usually is huge in determining success rate of the decent prospects.

We move on from the inept QB manager MikeyT and the thought is to bring in a QB coach and not give him ingredients to make a dish???
That would be an absolutely moronic move.

We need the proactive approach at the grocery store and need to stop purchasing the discounted day of expiration products so the new chef can cook.

I like Howard, but to put all your eggs in that basket would also be moronic…
Similar to the parade of dinosaurs.

Indeed, as the OP stated WTF are we doing here?

I would not be surprised to see Ty Simpson added to compete against Howard, while Rodgers holds the seat this season with Mason playing #2.

We might be overcomplicating what might be a fairly obvious answer.

Simpson isn't ready to start, but has a lot of upside. Rodgers can offer endless amounts of experience & advice. McCarthy has played this card before.

Look for a trade UP in the 2nd round to secure Simpson, IMO.

I think they add a QB just not in the first round.

I really thing they already know. Just like last year.

More and more I have a feeling that it's going to be Allar with one of the 3rd round picks

I think waiting for Rodgers is a fine scenario. What better guy could a couple of young QBs learn from? I always thought whatever they were doing in Green Bay...I thought Rodgers had a lot of Favre characteristics like arm angles, the way he moved up and around in the pocket, throwing accurately off the back leg for example. I think you see a bit of that when you look at Jordan Love. Seems like it rubbed off a little down the line. I'd sure take it if it rubs off on Will Howard or a draft pick.

Why would the Steelers show their hand before the draft? Not only are they keeping you restless and agitated, but they're keeping the other 31 teams guessing on whether or not they're drafting a QB and if so, what round? It changes the draft strategy of those teams.

In other words, the Steelers are playing chess and you have the strategic aptitude to play marbles, maybe. :)

Agree. Simpson in Round 2.

If they miss Simpson, Beck or Nussmeier with a roughy being Klubnik.
Again, it could just be smokescreens, but every insider is saying pretty much zero chance a first or second round qb is taken... a few said there is a chance if a guy they have a high grade on falls into the late 3rd or 4th and they think he has higher upside than Howard they make draft one then.. otherwise expect a camp arm type at best...

If they felt a guy was good, they would be taking him in the first... i do not think they plan to take any qb before the fifth and my guess is we dont see one until the 7 th or an UDFA type. There just arent enough snaps in practice to give Howard and another rookie a good look..

Hahaha, if we were sitting in the top 15 maybe, but I don't think teams are worried about us taking a QB in round 3 or later. And if Rodgers is here or not, I don't think that would/should stop us from taking a QB at any point in this draft.
I've seen this franchise think it's playing chess for year, in reality they've been playing Go Fish.

Just because we don't know doesn't mean the steelers don't. I am sure they have a really solid idea of what Rodgers is doing. I'm also sure they are exploring other options. Worst case we have Mason, Howard, and Skylar. If Howard doesn't pan out maybe McCarthy can work his magic on Mason. I believe Rodgers will be back, but I don't think that's the best option. I think Rodgers had less mobility than Manning in his final years. Rodgers had alot of drive killers where he could have easily picked up a first if he just had a touch more mobility.

Hopefully Omar gets back to you soon with his plan so you can approve it. That way we can get on our way to Lombardi number 7.

I'm not sure what he's expected to do? Overpay for an over rated FA? Tip his hand on what his draft plans are? Enlighten us.

Then why tip our hand and announce any FA moves? Having Rodgers start or not start isn't going to change our draft plans, well it shouldn't. I understand the Steelers probably have an idea, but there's never been another player that we just sit there and not say what we're doing with them, it looks like just an ego stroke for Rodgers.
They didn't sit on the Trubisky signing, or the Russ signing, or the Fields signing.

Don't worry they know exactly what they're doing, they're keeping it hush-hush to the rest of the NFL that they are bringing back a QB that can't move and doesn't want to get hit, that'll totally surprise everyone.

I think many, both here and otherwise, are frustrated with the franchise putting itself in this predicament.

Many also realize due to this fact, there is not much of a better option than taking a “risk”.

Front office is settling for the non-risk form of competing now, in doing so they are sacrificing the future for the now outcome.

No matter how you see it, state it, or look at it…… it is a losing / frustrating situation.

Nobody else is interested in this fossil. Minnesota was our last hope, but they've signed a QB for the league minimum who is 14 years younger, is infinitely more mobile, and has a chip on his shoulder with a future contract to play for.

I liked the Rodgers signing last year. See what the guy had left in the tank, see if he could capture some old magic. It's clear to me that, a year later, he's running on fumes, and the show is over.
