WTF are we doing?

With AR not committed back or steelers not committed, it makes it look like steelers are going to draft a qb early. Maybe thats the plan. To make it look that way.

you KNOW they arent saying all this out loud on purpose.

Rodgers is going to be 43 this season, us signing or not signing him shouldn't dictate what we do, or what other teams perceive us to do at the QB position in the draft.

Why wouldn't Minnesota hold off on announcing they signed Murray? Or the Seahawks hold off on announcing they signed Darnold last season?

Rooney has turned this into Dancing with the stars ( washed up stars). Bring in known names, let them sing and dance. People watch. Popcorn is sold. Its the circus in Pittsburgh. Right around the corner to see the bearded lady.

It appears that way, but I've been told it's no big deal, blah, blah, blah.
The difference between last years waiting and this years waiting tho, the staff is working on a plan B. There was no plan B last year, it was Rodgers or bust.

Sadly they thought Rodgers was the missing SB piece. Crazy

That is a LOT of assumptions you are making prematurely. Until those things actually come to pass it is ridiculous to get worked up about them in my opinion. I get we are bored and having to do but speculate but I don't see the point in worrying and getting upset when there may be nothing to worry about.

NO SIR, I’m not upset or worried.

I have no say in the outcome and am not invested enough to be upset or worried.

I’m just stating the obvious.

True, OTAs haven’t happened yet, but do matter same as the rest of the things i mentioned.

All any of us can do is keep on keepiN on.

We are still the laughing stock when it comes to QB at this point.

I’m not letting him or Kahn or Rooney get off that easy. They could have stopped all this nonsense by signing Willis to a 2-3 year deal quickly. Wiped the stink off. They are choosing to go this comfortable route. It’s a joke. I never thought Willis as a long term option(he might surprise me….jury still out) but I sure as **** know Rodgers is not.

Blame Rooney. Letting it happen last year was one thing……2 years in a row is a joke. Quite the plan here, quite the direction they are going here. I don’t give a **** if they’ve got some type of verbal agreement. Just do it already. I hate to say it,but I would have rather them sign Kyle Murray for 1.3 on a prove it deal instantly instead of this bs again.

Fully agree Steelmann, I partitioned for Willis knowing full well he may not be the answer. Getting him would at least be a step to moving forward instead of an old geriatric QB still making up his mind.

I’m just hoping for light at the end of the tunnel.

I disagree on that one as well. Rodgers' age will force them to look to the future Willis signed for 2 or 3 years just confounds the future. I would rather have the old man for one year than Willis sucking for 3.

One of the reasons I'm not a fan of guys like Simpson, Nussmeier, etc.

A good point and that is where I debated in my mind. Are their pocket pass ability good enough for them to succeed at the NFL level? The great unknown. Perhaps an unknown easier to stomach late three early four.

I do get that they are a laughing stock with their playoff futility of this decade. For me the coaching had more to do with that and the lack of supporting staff. One of those issues is gone and they started working on the other.

Very curious what new coaches and a few more capable WRs could do. They have that 1 2 punch now and arguably a better offensive mind.

I don’t think a one year run back kills anything at this point I don’t think there is better options there were no Darnold options available like last free agency.

I think they draft a QB next year and probably this year as well.

I guess I was never convinced this year had clear cut more attractive options.

Saying that I still wouldn’t be upset if they traded for say Mills or Jones.

But yeah not many attractive alternatives.

I bet they don’t have a plan at all.

Laughing stock when it comes to QB? We’re a laughing stock period. We can’t draft. We give senior citizens huge contracts because of things they did for us 5 years ago. We hire old, fat coaches who couldn’t get it done when they were young and fat. And we promote second rates to coordinator positions because they’re cheap. It’s been a decade since we were any real threat. Sh*t QBs is just the tip of the iceberg.

Good Lord Mann. Did Rodgers age last season force them into looking for the future? ( if he signs another season which you obviously want)
Did old man Russ Wilson force them into signing someone for their future? Oh wait….they got someone even older and more chicken-**** to get hit.
You use Willis as the example. How would that confound the future? He’s in an easy to back out of contract if he sucks. And if he’s good you try and extend. So you’d rather sign a guy with one foot in the football grave than perhaps a young upcommer with potential.
I thank the lucky stars a guy like you is not making decisions. Always looking for the conservative easy way instead of going for it. All these old after the prime veterans. Oh wait a minute. Your old coach who you believed should have had a lifetime contract, who’s **** never stank had the same philosophy. No wonder.

I don't understand all the negativity around Rodgers signing or not... What other legit options were out there? There were not a whole lot of other legit options. We would have basically been signing a backup, paying them starter money, and hope it pans out. Then we would be stuck with a contract if not. With Rodgers at least we would only be stuck with one year. I mean Willis is making over 20 million / year based on a couple good games. Did we really want to tie up 70 million in Willis or Cousins or whoever? Look what happened with the Jets and Fields last year. I'm fine with the Steelers plan. I don't see it as Rodgers or bust. If Rodgers doesn't sign then we go with Howard / Mason / draft? If Rodgers signs then we roll with Rodgers and have Howard as backup. I do not feel like we missed out on any real QB1s. I also think if there were legit QB1 prospects available then we would have pulled the trigger. I do not think the team is sitting by the phone waiting for Rodgers to call.

Bingo!
They aren't benching Rodgers either, so you're stuck if you sign him, if we would've signed a guy that has something to prove (willis, murray, jones) someone like that, you can bench them easy, you're not benching a future HOF QB. Rodgers another year is just another wasted year of trying to find the next guy, and not to mention another year wasted of guys on your roster in their prime.

If Willis truely sucked for 3 years, speculation.

What if he was a hit ???

My laughing stock comment was more directed or meant to be directed as to the number of years and the attempts to rectify our QB situation, yet here we are in the same boat.

I fully agree on the offense being better or having better weapons this upcoming season. There was no better option at this point as for QB.

The new coaching staff will have to rectify the QB situation and have already started that process.

I want the best and will root for the team regardless of players / coaching decision I agree or disagree with.

We all want the best for the best franchise !!!!!

That's a big what if with a decent price tag attached to it and 3 years.

I think his contract was a pretty easy out should he have failed. (Least ways our Kahn could work the majic)

Moving forward is about taking risk(s).

Rodgers isn’t taking us anywhere and some said he is a bridge QB. Heard same thing last year

This whole QB situation is Tomlin Generated.

MM will have it fixed or way ahead of addressed as compared to the Tomlin.

A smart and proactive FO would be adding more assets to the position whether the should be pastured geriatric QB returns or not

Anything less is like going into a season with a WR2 as your only receiving threat. What team could ever be that stupid?
