They picked him over Biadasz? I dunno about that one.

Who needs SEC players from powerhouse teams when we can out think everyone and take small school players from Charlotte and Louisiana-Lafayette?

NFL Draft profile

Backup-caliber guard with the football intelligence, technique and run-blocking ability for eventual starter consideration in the right circumstance. Dotson is a powerful man with experience blocking in zone, gap and power schemes. He’s a little stiff-kneed with sluggish change of direction so slanting fronts and athletic pass rushers could create inconsistencies in his performance. What he can do well outweighs the concerns and he could hear his name called on Day 3.

Strengths

Broad shoulders with a barrel chest
Fundamentals have been drilled into him
Initial steps are controlled and purposeful as run blocker
Brute force and leg drive to generate movement
Good grip strength and strains to sustain
Well-versed in inside and outside zone
Takes smart angles up to second-level targets
Heavy-handed punch
Balanced posture in pass sets with punch-ready hands
Plays with recognition of incoming twists

Weaknesses

A little short with top-heavy build lacking proportion
Has issues keeping balance when he's cross-faced off snap
Not a natural knee bender
Ducks head into contact attempting to create leverage
Needs to bring feet with him to prevent from falling off blocks
Average quickness to expedite combo blocks when needed
Needs to re-set hands more quickly
Mirror suffers when he loses proper base width
Feet and agility to recover are below average

sounds like Chris Kemoeato

Welp, the last Rajun’ Cajun we had (in the 4th round as well, if memory serves) turned out to be OK. Big, strong guy, and was an All-American to boot. Not too bad for a guy not invited to the combine. All this said, I’d feel much better about it if Munch was coaching him up.

Seeing a lot of buzz about this dude, that it was a great pick, and that he's an absolute mauler. I've seen him mocked higher than where we got him. I like it. We needed this depth. My only issue is - what's the plan at NT and S depth?

Again I'm not ******** on the guy. Its not him, or his fault. but its a wasted pick. They will just have to find another chair in the running back room for what they already have. They got to their pick in the second and there was a run on receivers. They chose Claypool over the available running backs. Its over at that point. You cannot improve the running back roster at that. So they get to the third. They should have explored, fire sale on the remaining draft to move up and take Cushenberry. They didn't. You know they really wanted Muse, but he went. They take a small school project guy. Then they uselessly take a running back. Just ball up and get the guy who could have started at guard.

How do you know they wanted Muse? They didn't meet with him. They did meet with Dotson.

i don't know poop about this kid...i didn't have time to watch much this year...but, i just saw one tape of him working out in shorts...very agile for a big man. Steelers like to pull OG and OC...if he can learn to snap, maybe a great depth player while he learns and perhaps take MP spot if MP retires with Ben as he said he would.

Well we have a 6th and 7th left, there's still a chance!

I really rather them not take a QB... just playing along..

But I go like Gordon’s game.. definitely a gun slinger but could use a few cheeseburgers.. or maybe primanti sammiches lol
