With free agency all but over the pressure shifts to the draft

I was a doom and gloom kinda guy but I am trying to look at the bright side on things. Maybe we aren't as bad as we thought at a few positions. OLB, we have JH, JJ and Moats to start with. Like so man here have pointed out JJ has sucked but this is it for him and it is either step up or step out, jmo. Now the key here is who can step up behind them, Zumwalt, Lemon, Jones.....Kruger??? We don't know what we have here maybe someone steps up maybe two step up....maybe. I also feel in round 1/2 we could be looking to add another young guy like Dupree, Harold or Orchard,

I really feel the CB class this year is very deep and I can see us getting at least one that could help fairly quick within the first 5 rounds. We have a lot of questions with guys like Allen, Webb and Fogg(???) if Allen rebounds we are pretty good or if Webb can show something that would help. I have been down on Gay but since he came back he has been pretty damn good and Blake showed some promise.

Shazier needs to stay healthy and show why we drafted him #1 and young guys like Tuitt, McCullers and Shamarko could all add to our improvement. A few of these guys step up and stay healthy we may not be as bad as we all think we are,jmo

Honestly, the best VALUE for the spot might be:

WR in round 1
CB/DB in round 2
OLB in round 3

I think Colbert will love someone like Strong, Parker or Green-Beckham in round 1 and just look at them as BPA

Come back in round 2 and force a "need" selection like Collins, Darby or Jones at CB

Then in round 3 maybe get an OLB like Mauldin, Tull or Kikaha.

Then blow the rest of the draft on special teamers and undersized guys.

Not saying it's bad, just completely what I would expect this regime to do.

to me the best available player could be an ot too . and that would meet also a need

I think at some point we need to address the fact that Heath is getting older. Unfortunately I don't know how you replace the best all-around TE in the league. I guess you just hope somebody comes along eventually that can "sorta" fill his shoes and learn behind him for awhile.

I'm completely unimpressed with Jones. I've never seen anything out of him that makes me think he's even a pro-caliber player. Does he have any sacks that weren't just accidental "Oops, I ran into the QB while I was running into the backfield" plays?

Shamarko Thomas is a complete enigma to me. I have no idea what's going on there. When he's sitting on the bench while Mitchell is out there with a groin injury I can only assume either the coaches hate him or he's got a terrible attitude in practice or he lacks something really fundamental. I don't know but it suggests to me that something's missing.

The FO has built this impressive offensive machine and let the defensive side of the ball completely wither. I don't know that there's much to be done about it at this point. Perhaps Butler will just throw young guys in there and finally we'll see somebody step up and be a total stud. Stranger things have happened. In the meantime, perhaps the offense can score a point or two more than the defense gives up now and then.

I bet MT thought JJ was rich with talent too. Although in the pre draft yaking that goes on one must consider who the person is trying to influence, could they be hoping to convince other teams that they will not be picking a linebacker so maybe someone will slide past a team hoping to make the grab in the second?

Yesterday was breakfast with he media at the owners meet so we should be hearing a lot of different things. I think most will be smoke screens as the draft is getting closer. I am not as into draft prospects as some here and I don't watch a lot of film I just read about different guys on different sites and compare how the people who write and cover these guys rate them. With that said this is jmo, I feel the CB class is pretty deep this year and the OLB/edge rushers are not.

By no means and I saying I know more the Colbert and Tomlin I am just giving my opinion. I just think there is a game these guys have to play and you can only believe a little of what is reported when it comes to the draft. They can't give away who they want and give up leverage in case someone wants to trade up or we want to trade down.

p.s.

I think as of right now Harold or Dupree is our 1st round guy.
