With Conner out, the Steelers will be throwing it more and that means we will be more prone to interceptions. If our defense can get one back, or produce a game where we are on the + side of the turnover department, that would be nice.

I hope the Steelers give Samuels a chance to run the ball at least 15 times. Ben can be an amazing passer. Both deep touchdown passes to Brown were fantastic, but if he throws it 40 times or more we know there will be one what was he thinking type of throw. And with out bonehead coaching that has linebackers covering receivers, silly red flag challenges that have no chance of being reverses costing the team time outs, and penalties that hamstring our chances to finish or prevent a drive, being at least even on the turnovers is a must.

Ben should have a of time to throw. He needs to stop relying on pre-snaps reads, and watch out for players changing their pre-snap positons in order to get in front of the routes the Steelers receivers like to run. I don't know why this one weak point of his game remains, but its a flaw he needs to correct given the defense we have.

so, in other words, you're suggesting Ben just walk to the line, take the snap without reading the defense and throwing at will. then you want to whine, ***** and moan about interceptions. you're basically asking Ben to play like Nathan Peterman.

How about just throw to open receivers? How about just throw the ball away instead of throwing into triple coverage crowds in the EZ?
How about leave the swollen headed cockiness at home and just play football?

Meanwhile Derek Carr hasn't thrown a pick for 7 straight games...Steelers can't afford to blow any more winnable games.

If Ravens upset Chiefs and Steelers lose this one the season is probably over

That too, but I think he needs to be cautious on timing routes over the middle. I've seen too many picks. No more throws to Washington. We might need more Jessie James, he's pretty sure handed. And I would not be shy about throwing it to Samules. He looked very impressive on his touchdown catch.

NO. I'm saying he can't rely on a pre-snap reads alone especially on those timing routes over the middle. Ben's is great with pre-snap read but iffy on tracking where the DB might be BEFORE he throws it. Wait an extra moment before letting these passes go. Both Ju-Ju and Brown can take short catches and make something out of them. I think Samules can do the same.

The best way for the Raiders to win Superman is turnovers. Limit the calls where they are mostly likely to happen. Oakland has three guys with 2 interceptions. Gareon Conley #21 has top ball skills.

That would be the way I'd go to offset the loss of Conner. No more pound the ball up the gut stuff, throw it to TE's early and more passes to RBs out of the backfield, but we know that requires a lot of patience from the play callers.

They already throw 2/3rds of the time and I don’t want to try to out-pass Brady and Brees. The Steelers were winning more when we were running more and should be in no hurry to put their defense back out on the field. Run more! I don’t care who the back is.

That may just be the dumbest thing I have ever read on this board. You have just identified how MOST interceptions happen is by being late with the ball.

You play to win the game!

That usually means outscoring the competition, every game is a shoot out with this defense, running the ball just to run the ball makes no sense, we need our 30+ points to even have a shot at winning.

Fixed it for you, we have shown over 2 years now that 30 points is not safe with our defense.

The raiders are 2-10. I suppose not throwing a pick for 7 games hasn't done much for them. Of course we always seem to play like a bunch of hobos just off the train and a 3 day bender when we player teams with **** records.

**** it....Let's just average 35 points per game the rest of the way...I can live with 2 picks a game at 35 per game

35 points usually means no missed extra points.

Do you watch our games? I'm talking about DB or LB jumping a route. Ben often does not see them moving into positon before he throws it. It has nothing to do with being late with the ball, rather it has everything to do with the defender jumping the route / getting in front of our receiver BEFORE the ball is thrown.

DO you watch the games? 80% of Ben's INT have NOTHING to do with DB's jumping routes, it has to do with him forcing balls into double and triple coverage or pressing to force a throw after the play breaks down. But sure, lets hold onto the ball until all of the DB's have time to jump the routes and he can either force an INT or take a sack.

Throw it more? They have been very pass heavy the last three games. I don't see anything noticeable changing in our run/pass ratio.

Frankly, if "throwing it more" means those little dump offs to RB's, it isn't, really, much different than a called run. Even better really, because if the RB bobbles it and drops it, it is an incompletion rather than a fumble.

JaySam ought to be fine catching the ball out of the backfield. it is the other pieces of the position, we have to worry about.

We have to limit the turnovers to 0 or 1 and even that can't give them a short field.

Our other RB'S never get opportunities to play. They will rusty. Perhaps fumble prone. I hope not, but Tomlin really needs to use all the guys so they are ready when their number is called.

Confirmed, running back by committee

Samuels to start for PIT, but will split work

Jaylen Samuels said he'll be the Steelers' starting running back Week 14 against the Raiders.

While Samuels will make the start, he said Stevan Ridley is expected to get the second series, and the two backs will rotate throughout the game.

Ben has a habit of forcing throws.
Just take what the defense gives him, he'll be fine.

Sucks losing a big piece in Conner, but like Spike said. Leave the ego behind.

Well we should give them a ******* cookie since they are so incredible.

Wow, that was a bit much. You, specifically, said our D has shown they cannot keep a team under 30. When, in fact, they did.

While we are at it, five games over the last season and this one had the other team score 30 or more points. Two of those were Jacksonville where Ben threw a total of 6 or 7 interceptions (2 were pick 6's) and a fumble for a TD.

I keep hammering on this, in today's NFL you can almost guarantee your opponent will score 21-24 points. Doesn't matter who the coach is or what team you are playing, in general, that is what their offense will produce. There will be outliers. BLT has held teams under 21 7 times this year. they allowed more than 30 against the Bengals and Panthers but I don't know if that was all D allowed or not.

Only 7 teams have an average under 21, again, not sure how much of that is non-D scoring against them.

We don't have to play perfect on O, but we can't commit 3+ mistakes and expect to win, especially, when those mistakes lead directly to points for the other team. I'd suggest that WE didn't even commit 2 of the mistakes that lead to 14 points. On the non-FS, I'd expect that SD would have scored something, anyway, but less sure on the non-block in the back. When your D is already playing subpar and two BIG things like that happen, it can **** you up and we couldn't recover.

If our offense cannot score more than 21-24 points, we don't deserve to win.

Stephen A. et al on the Steelers' issues and they are great! Damien Woody is profoundly on point!
