Watt, Stef, Dangerfield, Wormley and now Ebron have addressed the major positions we were in dire need of ............ so what does Steeler Nation propose in the draft

I think we just became more flexible in how we proceed

Guard/Center still remains near the top for me ......... looking to players like L. Cushenberry, T. Biadasz, N. Harris and C. Ruiz

RB now becomes an option should one of the following be around for pick in the 2nd or 3rd........ J Taylor, JK Dobbins, C. Akers, CEH or Z Moss
Conner is on the last year of his contract and he has had injury issues.... time to make a big decision here

Edge/olb we just tagged Dupree..... does anything in this draft become worthy of a 2nd pick coming our way?

WR ........ a pretty deep class ..... might we land a big body like a Chase Claypool or do we continue to survive with choosing the undersized variety

TE...... not a strong class but there are some bodies available in the late rounds that should be considered

OT.... some good talent but what is it whittled down to by the time we pick

What do the rest of you think about how we handle our picks

The draft for us will be wide open now. We can take BPA. I still think it will be a skill player especially since the WR class is so deep. But, now, if a D player drops that they really like, they could go that route where before FA, I don't think that was a possibility.

Hah I was just going to type that.

Anyways for a fan to get a feel of what probably happens early say in the 2-4 range you look at the strength of the draft.

WR/LB/ RB/)O-line

CB and QB aren't too bad either.

You have four picks in the range I suggested and five positions named.

I would be surprised if there was a pick outside of the mentioned.

I’m sticking with the RB Dobbins out of Ohio State. Shifting this offense to a more run oriented one with Dobbins, James and Benny. Now you have two pretty good TE and a good FB, and most importantly a rejuvenated Ben who does not have to throw it 40 times a game.
Receivers should all be better especially Diontae Johnson in his 2nd year.
Please just bring in a veteran backup QB as insurance. I’m not a big Winston fan but, I’ll take him for insurance since he’s been a starter and enjoyed some success but has to get the ints down, way down.

I think....that the Steelers appear to be going ALL IN on chasing down one more SB during Ben's last couple years with the team. Now that they have addressed positions of need; TE, Dline, Interior Oline, Edge, my intuition (which is often wrong) is that the second round pick will be for a stud at a position that will have the most potential short term impact and get us the closest to attaining the ultimate goal so I say at pick number 49 the Steelers will take:

BRBA - the best RB available; Dobbins, Taylor, Akers, CEH.

I don't know, I still think we need another Blue Chip Wide Receiver....

We need some stiff competition to raise the level of ALL THESE wideouts...

I agree this could now be a big possibility between Dobbins or Taylor being available ...... I would trade back a little and try and pick up another midround pick if going after Akers or CEH

Tackle rb ss

I can think of about 5 OT that will go in the 1st round....... not sure whether the value remains at the position when we pick in the 2nd
Who are your RB candidates to make that choice...
What SS do you think would add depth to the team since we have Fitz, Edmunds and Dangerfield back ..... I like Antoine Brooks in late mid round ......... McKinney , Delpit and Winfield Jr. are probably gone before we select in the 2nd

Your Biggest Player Available is gaining a lot of traction on this board TIBS

Meet Mekhi Becton

Becton, who is the biggest player at this year's combine having checked in at 6-foot-7⅜ and 364 pounds, put up an official 5.10 clocking in the 40-yard dash.

I wish he was there at our pick in the 2nd

Thier are some damn good punters that are going to be just sitting thier when we pick in the 2nd. let's go!

Fortunately we are not called the Raiders and Al Davis has no say in our picks.........even from beyond the grave

But you have to admit Seabass was a better pick in the 1st round than DHB

I love reading these threads and need to get more up to speed on the draft this year. Usually by now I’d have a pretty good idea of the top 10-15 guys at critical positions of need for us. Not this year...so I’m lagging behind.

The one thing I have learned over the years is not to get attached to any specific player, in thinking or hoping the Steelers will draft them. Just too many unknowns and intangibles involved with how the draft shakes out, once the picks start rolling in. Couple of examples, the year we drafted DeCastro...no friggin way anyone thought he would still be on the board. Same with this trade up for Bush, or the risky picks of Dupree or Terrell Edmunds. Or who could have predicted Dionte Johnson would be the WR they go after last year, or how good he’s turning out to be?

So I tend to sit back and let the process play out, as opposed to being lulled into believing I have a grip on how they’ve ranked the prospects. I’ve found the draft to be more enjoyable this way, as I’m no longer gnashing my teeth when they leave a bunch of dudes on the board and seem to pull a name out of a hat when they announce their pick. ;)

RB pool for R2 & R3: Taylor, Dobbins, Edwards Helayre, Akers, Benjamin. If none of these are taking I just ignore RB this draft.
C pool for round 2,3 : Biadasz, Ruiz, Cushenberry, Hennesy

Round 2: BPA between C, OLB, RB
Round 3: BPA between whatever was left
Round 4a, 4b, BPA between whatever was left at C, OLB, plus OT, WR, NT, LB, FS
Round 6: ILB, S, NT
Round 7: ILB, S, NT

What price range would you consider spending on R. Anderson...... Assuming the depth at WR in the draft who would you target?

I think I read that Robbie wants north of 10 million per and we’re not going to do that nor can we do that.
If he will work with us and perhaps go 3 years 20 million but that’s probably pushing the envelope for us, and I doubt he’d even go for it.

I like Jalen Reagor from TCU if we could nab him in the third since I want Dobbins in round two.

Not much to do with the quarantine going on

Oh I agree, pre-draft discussions are fun and informative. I also enjoy doing mock drafts, cause then you're sitting there at the Steelers pick with multiple options still on the board, trying to figure out best value per position et al.

I'm talking about chilling out once the draft actually takes place...at that stage I try to let it all go and just enjoy watching it play out. 99% chance the Steelers will be picking players in an entirely different manner than how we imagined it, leading up to the draft.

Funny, I just read an article saying how everyone's shocked there's been radio silence on Anderson. No negotiations, no offers...hmm, what gives? They're saying he'll probably have to settle on whatever the Jets will offer him to stay. Quite a turnaround from the numbers he & his agent were throwing around months ago. Maybe someone's lurking in the shadows that have dibs on him, rather strange situation, given how high he was ranked heading into FA.

That dude is an animal, a freak of nature. I presume he'll be gone middle of first round, no?

Yeah I would say too steep for me ..... and we are pretty good picking WRs in the draft

We could always give up TJ Watt our 2nd round pick and next years 1st to move up and get the big guy........ oh sorry ....my inner Bill O'Brien is coming out.......

I think one of the things that is going to make this draft interesting is the fact that no teams are going to see players and be doing physicals, etc. More unknown than they are used to.
