Should not the thread title say window is open?

One window's closing is another window's opening..................................................... Peyote 101

Very good article. Almost every QB is overpaid starting with his second contract. I'm unsure why so many teams overpay for mediocrity.

It’s a very strong point in today’s NFL. The rookie years 2/3/4 are crucial in that window of opportunity. Cincinnati will find out.

The STEELERS have been drafting 16 - 24 for a lot of years running, whereas bungles / browns have been top 15 or lower near the same time. Finally one of them is becoming relevant but their QB window is expiring.

That is why this third year of O’Canada could come back to bite them in the window way……..

To me with a franchise guy, you get early window when he is cheap and later when you can re surround with talent. There is a lull when he gets paid crazy at first and then as the cap expands his contract gets better. Hard for us who have had enough of Tomlin to watch this and just pray we are wrong. In my opinion if Tomlin gets re-uped which I assume he is they will miss that window.

Good read, insight on rookie QBs and their windows of “financial“ opportunity.

It’s a Home Page article and talks about the AFC North and QBs cost and keeping talent on the team.

In my mind it is more reason they should have replaced O’Canada as I feel another wasted season of low offensive production.

I suspect part of the reason they kept Canada might be because they didn’t want to force Pickett to learn a new offense and screw up his progress. Just a thought.

Picket uses sharpies. Canada uses Crayola.

Team never gets to another Super Bowl with Shades as head coach. Bank on it. The Bills, Bungles, and Chefs are going to be better than us for a long time. Watching the playoffs you can see how far behind we are.

This is completely money and on target. And they do have enough defensive talent to beat a team like those but you better play wildly aggressive with seven up at the line and Shades would never do that ever.

A person would have to be blind to not see it, but here we are. One would think a long-time owner family has eyes. Fine, go another year status-quo and if it's the same, Art, you are ruining a storied franchise. Former players see it and are saying it. Pisses me off.

I think the Bills have had their best shot. Like the article says when QBs get expensive teams fall apart at other positions. Allen's cap hit goes from $16 million in 2022 to $39 million next season and growing. They have lots of FAs this off season too. Not saying they won't be competitive, just going to be tougher.

Like I'm gonna be a little balanced. The team went from a HOF qb. To a rookie. They broke .500 and won against low teams in the second half. I never would have expected them to fire shades after this year. But bringing back the OC largely made me ill. It shows me it isn't ever gonna matter what it looks like. If they don't make a big year two jump, what is it going to take. Do you really want Marvin Lewis 2.0.

Nice post SteelerSask2, thanks for all your great ones along the way.

I see a lot of what you are saying here too, but also want noted that I will be rooting for this team to the end. Even though I would like to see some change, obviously I will have to live with the current.

I will always hope for the best from. This team / franchise as it’s been in me for life.

We saw it happen with the Ravens and Flacco.

Agree with every word. I love the team. I love the brand. And I even really like Tomlin. I think he is a cool customer and would be more thrilled to see him hoist another one then some other coach. But my brain and experience tell me that won't happen.
