Will Pittsburgh Take Wisconsin RB Jonathan Taylor With The 49th Pick?

Here’s a good article on what the Steelers look for in a running back by analyzing previous drafted running backs. There’s only 3 that check off all the boxes and Taylor is the only one of those three the Steelers have spoke with (at least to my knowledge).

I like Edwards-Helaire and thought he was the biggest reason they dominated vs Clemson but physically he is very limited. Smaller backs like MJD have defied the odds but he also was a burner where Edwards-Helaire is more of a grinder. Also, I’m unaware if the Steelers have shown any interest in drafting Edwards-Helaire. Not saying they don’t have any just saying it’s hard for me to gauge the level of interest if they haven’t even spoke to the young man.

Did you look in the visit thread? It seems like for some reason you are avoiding it like the plague, does it have the Corona?

Yes they have interest in Edwards and Akers. Probably in Taylor too. Probably more than the 7 I have listed. He can check all the boxes and back again and I still would have concerns on him regarding those fumbles.

But hey we are allowed to like different prospects. It is ok !

I saw his name just no link verifying and a google search came up empty. I definitely could have missed it but did look over the entire thread twice.

value of spot 89 is 145 points

that 55 points difference would equate to Minny wanting our 4th round to bring the numbers more in line

I can understand saying that you would be willing to trade back with a team in the draft if the right circumstances present themselves.... but I can't justify naming a particular team and determining what they would give up, until you are about 2 spots away from your pick at 2.49 and can actually see what has come off the board, what is still available to you and if you do trade back ...who else may trade up and steal one of the options you thought you could still draft by trading back in the first place... too many variables......,

Depending on how the draft falls I coul see the Steelers and Miami making a trade. Miami has tons of picks and if the right guy is falls they might want to move back up. Our 49 (410) their 56 (340), 141 (35.5), and 153 (29) get us pretty close on value and a 3rd pick in the 4th and get a 5th round back.

Slash..... has a sweet tooth and would prefer anyone of 31 flavours of Baskin Dobbins or a small Chocolate H eclair ahead of choosing J Taylor in the draft

Ford....... likes to ride in the fast lane with a muscle car with top end speed but poor handling ability .....give me a J Taylor in the perfect draft

Like you said everything depends how the draft falls. I do believe that Miami with 14 picks should be a team that has the most chance of moving up and down the board. You took the time to check value on the charts for both teams so that is a viable proposal. Myself , if the Steelers are to move around, I hope it involves a mid round from next year unless it is a very small move of only say 3-4 spots this year.
We need to hit on the 2nd and 3rd picks with someone that can impact the team sooner than later.

I think we NEED a punter brought in to compete with our current one. NOT a draft pick type because we can UDF a multitude of said competition.

Believe it or not fumbling every 54 touches is a big concern and that’s why he MIGHT be available at 49. Personally, I feel he’s a late first or early second but dropping to the mid second isn’t out of the question.

Not ******** on Taylor, I would actually be thrilled if they drafted him but he's just not the same pedigree as a Zeke.

Zeke may be the best back in the league, if not definately top 3

That said I agree, it's doubtful he falls to 49 even with the fumbles
