Justin Hunter has never found consistent success in the league. Hunter needs to be able to step up once and for all. His roster spot is in question, but he’s the only high-upside, large receiver the team has. He barely saw any time last year and was only re-signed to a one-year deal. With James […]

I could see both scenarios. His snaps increase due to showing well in training camp.

Or Brown,Juju, and Washington hogging up the majority of looks , resulting in minimal snaps.

I see him making the club though, as depth isn't all that great beyond the aformentioned.

should be in all the redzone 4 wide wr sets
SE Hunter Slot Brown slot/TE JUJU Flanker Hunter

Hunter was the outside starter before drafting Washington. Wash still has to beat Hunter out, but if he does, Hunter is still the necessary backup at the Z, though he will probably be inactive again if that is the case.

Interesting competition after Washington though since he is a rookie that is presumptuous. Id say its Hunter, Tucker and DHB battling it out. Id like them to bring in a vet. If not Rogers someone else.

Hunter has some qualities and one of them is combat catches. Last year Cope did a break down with video and through that I could see the combativeness of him. I can't figure out why he can't translate from exceptional practices to applying it on game day. Maybe this will be his year.

Maybe. Hunter sort of started out hot in camp, then declined. With Bryant gone, there is a need for a speedy big guy, so yes I do think he will get more snaps in 2018. Not a lot more, just a few/

With Hunter, it became a numbers game. He killed it in the preseason with Byant still unable to practice, and the league sitting on reinstating him. When Bryant came back, he lost his spot. Since Hunter is only a Z receiver, he wasn't active for most of the season. He only got in when Bryant was suspended (and got a TD).

Not being position flexible, or a ST contributor, limited his time. Though when Bryant was out, he went from inactive, to #3 receiver on the field. JuJu coming on early also hurt Hunter's ability to get on the field on 2 WR sets.

This season, the battle will be between Hunter and Washington for the #3 Z position. JuJu will be #2 in 2 WR sets.

Let's face it: He's nothing special.
He doesn't need to be special we have Juju, Antonio, McDonald, and perhaps Washington for that.

But he does need to be at least adequate when he is on the field. Stretch the field, catch some passes in relief.

We'll see.

I don't think anybody here is actually thinking he is special. If he can JUST get the opposing DB to line up 10yards off the line of scrimmage........ That would increase our chance of the "bubble screen" being more successful.

Ahhh...our beloved bubble screen. I know no one wants that play to disappear from our playbook. :)
