This will be one I am seriously considering. My son Just got his degree and is pursuing his masters in public policy. This would make a great graduation gift for him.......and of course his dad. The thing that pisses me off is,as usual when the Steelers go on the road,it is the most expensive ticket in town. That coupled with the 30% I lose on my Canuck toownies make it an expensive trip. The only good thing is flights from Vancouver to Phoenix are reasonable. So all that being said my Steeler brethren can give me some advice, from the people that have been there.
Better to get tickets in advance....or day of? I know advance gives me piece of mind.....but if the cardinals have a ****** season and interest in them wains, prices will be down in December. Same can be said of the Steelers season. Of course the opposite is true. How are the site lines of the stadium, are the nose bleeds horrible?
Where to stay? Close to Stadium? If I go ,I think it would be from the Friday to the Tuesday after the game. Is Glendale that far from Phoenix? recommendations? There must be game day shuttles or party type busses to get you there and back? Or better to stay in Glendale? Trying to keep accomadation prices down. Under 100$ a night would be nice. Or there abouts.
Any info would be appreciated. One of the days, would like to go for a mountain type-hike within an hour or so of Phoenix.
Thanks
I've probably been to 30+ games there with a contractor buddy of mine and sitting on the opposite side of where Steeltime will be. It's a nice stadium and not a bad seat in the place, obviously lower level, mid field will be better than in the corner of the upper deck, but you will have a clear view.
The Steelers are always a premium ticket, just the way it is, along with the Bears, Dallas, GB, etc. I'm not sure waiting will help much in buying the tickets. If the Cards tank, then maybe, but even then the season ticket holders will still want top dollar. There's pre-season excitement about their new coach and midget QB at the moment.
The stadium is located along the outer loop in the west part of the valley, and not difficult to get there from anywhere. That said, Phoenix is a sprawling metropolis, easily 50 miles from one end to the other. I would suggest renting a car would be a better option than relying on bus service or Uber.
A car would also give you more options on where to stay. Can't help much in that area, but Trivago is an option.
If you drive and park at the stadium, I would suggest moving up as close to the stadium as you can, if you have, or can borrow a handicap mirror hanger, it will get you up in the first couple of rows. When the game ends, they open the parking lot from the front and will get you out faster. Otherwise it can be a real pain getting out of there. And I would suggest getting there early, it's when all the visiting team fans show up and looks like a home game.
There are a couple of mountain type hikes in the city and December weather would be perfect for them.. Squaw Peak, err. Piestawa Peak, (changed for PC reasons by last Dem governor), or Camelback Mountain. Temperatures are usually in the mid to upper 60's that time of year.
