By Jared Villani SteelerNation.com While Baltimore and Cleveland have had plenty of buzz circulating their rosters heading into the 2019-20 season, the Pittsburgh Steelers have quietly built a potentially terrifying defensive unit as the season approaches. A balance of speed, strength, and toughness is prevalent amongst this group and they could easily build off the […]

I really could care less where they rank in yards per game. If they are mid-pack and lead the league in TO's. Well, that would be fine by me.

I want to see:

+TO ratio
Fewest points scored
Tons of 3 & outs.

Let's try and be better than the other team we play each and every week, we play.
By the end of the year if that ranks us 1st, 10th or 21st in stats overall , who cares. As long as they compete hard and help us win games.
You can't win every game but it would be nice to sit back and say that any loss is not on the DEF, OFF, or ST solely.

oicu8ad I agree + TO ratio and a shitload of 3 and OUTS would make me happy too

Is this a joke?

I agree that this line doesn't really stipulate who it is supposed to be terrifying to ..... us the fans..... or the opposing team .....

There was times the D flirted with a top 5 ranking, so no shocker here. They did a good job in bringing in pieces this offseason. A corner upgrade opposite of Haden and more inside speed in two players Bush and Barron. Watt is on the tip of stardom, safeties should be better. I think there is enough (now) talent in the room to be a top five unit.

Will that talent transfer over to the field of play?

We'll see.

Jared, thanks for the nice write up which is a good read.

This "D" definately has scary written amongst it. To the degree will also be related to the coaching decisions made durring the game. If the 2 DL set is used as similar as in the past, I see game score leads evaporating as the clock winds down. If the coaches keep to their stregnths and attach, I see Top 5 easily.

It's a wait and see thingy but then again what else can we do???

Cudo's to the front office for bringing in FAs & Draftees to strengthen what needed to be stregnthend.

Salute the nation

That might be a tall order to ask, but if they're at least on the positive side for turnovers, that's a start.

I'll be looking for those most. They need to turn the ball over and not give up 4th quarter nonsense.
