Why is everyone assuming a franchise tag on Bell will cost $14.5 million?

Technicalities,.................... You're absolutely right and you get my drift though. Why does Cool Shades run him past the need of winning thew game??? Is it for records, contract incentives, stupidity????? Same with Ben why is he left out there way past the need???

The reality is that it was far less than $3m. He, probably, would have around 45% of that in taxes, 10% (or whatever) to his agent.
 
While Bell had 85 catches, Kamara and McCaffrey broke 80 catches as well.
Bell had the most catches but was 4th in receiving yards, tied for 12th in receiving TDs, and a pretty low yards per catch among running backs.

Also acccording to him hasnt given up a sack in his career. How much is that worth especially when blocking for a franchise QB

I don't know, how many times does he actually block someone? I'm not saying he's not very good at it, but that's a tough stat to track.

My point with the receiving stats is that he is asking for huge pile of money for a RB, way more than any other RB because of his receiving skills, hell it's almost as much as the #2 and #3 RBs combined.
Then he needs to be elite in every area, Gurley had more rushing yards and more receiving yards than he did. Gurley, Kamara, McCaffrey all had double digits yards per catch. Duke Johnson for the Browns had more receiving yards, more receiving TDs, and a higher yards per catch. All 4 of the above RBs mentioned have a higher % of their catches go for first downs compared to Bell.

Now before you go on with the "Bell sucks" joke again, the point is he's not the only RB doing what he's doing in the passing game, which is why his asking price is too high.

So you just going to under sell that in 5 years of playing when he has been the primary RB he hasnt given up a sack. When Connor screwed up a protection that caused a interception against the Jaguars he barely could get on the field again. Its not something to gloss over. Especially when its not like he's a lineman and knows the majority of the time who his man is in pass pro. Bell is usually picking up a blitz. And to not be fooled mentally and then not beaten physically is a big deal. Everyone wonders why he never comes out thats it right there. Yes there are other backs catching and running, some for more yards. But no one is putting a complete package together like him.

I don't know DIC. I only know Bellicheck never takes Brady out, and we at least bring in Jones every once in a while at the end of games.

No I'm not discounting it, but do you know what the other RBs have given up sacks wise, or how many times he or they stay into block and end up blocking someone? Just because he stays into block, doesn't mean the defense ends up blitzing on that down. There are no stats to back that up.

Why do you need a stat? He's been doing it since his rookie year. He says none. No sacks. In 5 years. If it was something easy to do we would have more three down backs in the NFL. If a guy is only playing third down and is just as good picking up blitzes he is only playing third down. Only guys playing all three downs are Gurley Zeke and Johnson i believe. Not sure about Gurley and Johnson as pass blockers. Zeke is very good.

It's not like he's blocking someone ever single pass play, I'm just curious how many times a game he ends up having to block someone one on one on a passing play

Im pretty sure its been alot in 5 years. Enough to the point his coaches dont trust any other back to do it.

That and he's a very good pass catcher, especially as many times as we go empty set where no RB is there to block.

Bell can't do what JuJu does. Bell also can't do what Martavus does. He's not a WR and would not be anything but a slot receiver if he was placed as a full time WR. He's a running back that catches a lot of passes. We've had plenty of them in this league and always will.

Roger Craig is a great example. The 49ers had the best WR in the league in Rice. Guess who #2 was in receptions? Craig. He did this while leading his team in rushing as well.

88, 87 and 85 he led the 49ers in receptions, more receptions than Jerry ******* Rice. Bell didn't reinvent the wheel, he's doing what Roger Craig did, and he's a ******* running back. Only difference? Craig could lead his team in receptions, Bell can't...

Also, I just ran LaDainian Tomlinson's numbers, and they make Bells look small. And he can throw!
