Why bring tomlin back???

It's the coaches job to put them in place to succeed. a 2 front scheme vs a team that is going to run every down is not putting the players in position to win that battle.

You can have Reggie White and Aaron Donald at those spots and they aren't going to do ****.

I am not quite sure what you were watching. I saw Alualu out there a lot last night. Because I remember thinking to myself the Bengals are gouging the Steelers and Alualu is in there.

Lol uhhhh yeah.. you don't understand football scheme, sorry. Study up.

Oh, man. I don't understand football scheme. Haha. Maybe. I am no football genius, never said so. I just know the Steelers top players aren't playing well. You continue to make excuses for them, which is fine I guess. It's everything else but them.

Pure fantasy. They aren't getting rid of Tomlin any time soon. That isn't as much a defense of Tomlin but rather knowing how the Steelers do business. Until they start having losing seasons, no change will be made unless Tomlin decides to leave.

Fichtner will fall on the sword and Canada will be named the new OC. Tomlin lives to shoot another day.

Every sports anchor, every non-steeler fan, and most Steeler boards watched the game last night and thought-

"Damn, Ben looks done. This team has got a QB problem"

But this board?

"Fire Tomlin!!"

"Fichtner is the reason why Ben is underthrowing wide open receivers, or tossing those ugly looking INTs"

Every sports anchor doesn't want to get in trouble for calling out a minority head coach either..

There's a lot more to this offense sucking than Ben. Too bad idiots like those "sports anchors" don't say that but the attention grabber is that a HOF QB is done. I wonder if they were saying that 3 weeks again when we were 11-0? **** no.

Teams have adjusted to our offense and our coaching staff does nothing. This OL is ******* pathetic.. Tom Brady in his prime isn't winning behind this OL and when there is no run game at all.

Uhh, you are very wrong sir

https://clutchpoints.com/steelers-news-pittsburgh-10-0-but-ben-roethlisberger-just-22nd-pff-qb-rankings/

Or how about weeks earlier:

On the PFF NFL podcast, co-host Sam Monson says Big Ben is what is keeping Pittsburgh from the top spot... “It’s the quarterback,” said Monson. “Ben Roethlisberger is a marked degree below the best quarterbacks of all the other teams whether it’s (Patrick) Mahomes, even Lamar Jackson I know they beat the Ravens last week, Tom Brady.”

Ben's play was average for most of the year... Unfortunately as the season wears on, he is regressing from average to awful.

This team is going thru an epic and embarrassing collapse but we all know that regardless of what happens the Rooneys are not firing Tomlin. I agree with Badcat - Finkner has to be gone, along with some of his staff. Tomlin needs a serious reckoning with the owners this week however. Letting JJSS continue with his embarrassing pregame TikTok BS dance, keeping Finkner in charge of his crappy offense, and faithfully serving Ben when he is obviously underperforming are all indicative of a HC whose sense of loyalty is interfering with his teams chances of success.

If I were the owner, try to win this year, THEN blow it up.

Ben, retire. Pick up 40 million in cap space. Our UFA's keep few, maybe Hinton. Let the others walk picking up comp picks for 2022. Let Tomlin finish out his contract, that's our best chance for a high draft pick to obtain franchise QB. Come 2022, we have the pick of the pack for the HC, extra draft picks, and Tomlin won't have to be fired. Moreover he's not asked back.

For the 2021 draft, pick OL, RB, TE.

It’s good business sense that you are not an owner. If Ben retires, his contract’s dead money escalates all at once. There is no Post June 1 designation for 2021. So his dead money cap “savings” is around 20 million, not 40.

Before speaking try to know what you are talking about. Keep Tomlin after Ben retires? Best chance for a high draft pick? You’ve been wanting him gone since he was hired.

“Pick of the pack”...”extra draft picks”...”let others walk, get comp picks”. You are delusional as you are ignorant. Keep quiet, the adults are arguing.

No problem with what you are pointing out here Mud, but these things should be handled by the head coach, before they fester to the level that they are at.

What does TikTok dances have to do with these awful throws?

You guys still blame the O-Line?

Noon on Tuesday after three embarrassing loses, last one being the worst, but OC still employed...that my friends is commitment to losing or just scared to change
Have to send a message to the team that because they can't execute, their high school OC got fired

Just listened the great Tomlin PC, same speak just different day...he doesn't like losing, what? Really? But he was very impressed with the other team doing film work, playing hard, understanding the game, ya know, what his team CAN'T do
Says there will be changes, just like two weeks ago, just like one week ago....but the standard is the standard: No changes = Losing AGAIN!

Hahaha look at the route combination on the second video.. The bengals defense covered all 3 WRs by just standing there. Absolutely ridiculous design.

That was a 3rd and 14, people ***** that Ben throws short but the only person open is DJ for 4 yards.

And I can pick out plays in every game that shows the OL blocking absolutely no one. I can also pick out plays where the defense gets run over and run past by a terrible QB.

Cherry picking plays doesn't show the true problem but that route concept is comical, we have a fine coaching staff!

Our offensive scheme / play calling is terrible. /QUOTE]

You could stop right there. Every team experiences injuries, every team has players that at times are not playing their best.

Problem is this coaching staff isn't smart enough to know what to do when these things happen. It's like watching Bill Murray in Groundhog Day.

My friends roasted me with texts last night. Talked to one who knows a hell of a lot more than me today. He said it right. Anyone at the NFL level can coach NFL level talent. Its when you have to put in some slap dicks where you find out what you got.

If you look at some of my other posts you'll see that I"m not exempting Ben from my team critique. I even alluded to it in my post on this thread. He's 38 YO and his arm looks old and tired. The team needs to move on from him next year, save whatever cap space he frees up for other more productive players and look for a new alternative at QB. I'm just saying that JJSS's silly pregame antics exemplify part of the problem of Tomlin giving too much free rein to his "star players" and that it is hurting the team. Truth be told I was not upset at all to see him get blown up by the bungs a couple times. You keep doing that kind of **** and you got to expect it.

The route concept? It was 3rd and 14. What the hell route concept do you want in that situation? And, perhaps if Ben didn't stare down JuJu, maybe did a pump fake, if you notice, Claypool is coming wide open up top. He didn't have to rush anything, there was no pass rush.

But you blame it on the route concept. Gimme a break. It was a piss poor play by the QB.

And before you get your skirts all in a bunch, I'm not defending the coaching. I don't know a damn thing about route concepts. I keep it simple. A receiver was coming open with plenty of time for the QB to find him, and the QB didn't make the play.

Tomlin doesn't get the credit on the defensive side as much as he should.... yeah early on he inherited Cowhers scheme and players, but those both crashed by 14-15 and everything now is definitely Tomlins creation... his defensive productivity is far better than cowhers overall... and honestly, the haley era was better offensively than any steelers team era ever.... its just weird how his pinnacle of offense matched his absolute pit of defensive production...

look this current mess is like 93% fitchner... if you want to blame tomlin for him having the job, fine... im on board with that... but the teams crash offensively has more to do with Fitchner installing his dink and dunk than AB leaving or Ben getting old...

Who oversees and approves the installation of the play book, game plan, and scheme?

I think a toddler could come up with a better route concept than have 3 guys just run straight up field and slowly turn around.. that's what the route is. Run a crossing route, run a post directly up field, run an in or out.

It was a terrible decision by Ben but he was trying to get the first down and there's no chance of any of those WRs getting open with that garbage route combination.

Since everything is usually Ben's fault, I'm going to start treating Ben as the Head Coach. So I think it was Ben's fault.

Ben needs to find a way to get the defense to start making plays again to help get the offense a short field, a time or two. Ben also needs to start making better adjustments at half time.

I bet Tomlin loves wearing the mask this year. No one can tell he says nothing in to his headset all game now.

I am willing to give Tomlin credit on defense. I refuse to absolve him of responsibility for the crap pile the offense is.
