Big three healthy, better than average O-line. I don't have the answer, but it seems like we ignore the short game a lot.

Trouble scoring in the red zone.

I bitched about this during the Bengals game. On 3rd and short, we went for the big play instead of trying to pick up the first down. The result was 6 FGs.

On some of those 3rd downs Ben sat in the pocket and went through all his progressions 2 or 3 times ....no one was open so he threw deep. I get that. I hate the preordained 3rd and short and the quick throw deep. Of course if they hit it for a big gain or TD I am happy. ... :)

Play calling at times. Execution at times. Poor coaching at times (i.e. not having no huddle in your arsenal when on the road due to crowd noise. That's why good teams practice with noise pumped into their practice facility., etc.).

We replaced Bryant, Wheaton and Heath Miller with Rogers, Coates and James.

Next year if Bryant returns to form, Rogers develops some more and Green is healthy we will have a prolific
offense.

With Ben, I think it's to the point where the defense is playing for the long ball on 3rd and shorts, instead of covering the short throws. Ben could really use this to his advantage if he starts opting more for the 5-6 yard gain in this situations because I think they are there for the taking most of the time.

Hell yes you throw Bryant in the mix a healthy Sammie Coates and the rest of that scenario plays out we'd be prolific beyond belief.

A very good question.

On the surface, we have two pro bowl lineman and one very good one, a pro bowl QB, a pro bowl back, and a pro bowl WR.

However Haley at times is a monkey on a racehorse, too conservative on the road, and for some reason doesn't use play action enough when the ground game is working. Brown and Bell are too relied upon.

We have the foundation for a powerhouse running game, but Nix and Finney, two players who can fuel it are often on the bench.

The other problem is depth and to an extent speed. Our #2 WR, #2TE aren't good enough, which means Bell and Brown can be focused on.

Who is our fast player on offense? Bryant and Bey. Both are out.

The short game is ignored. Other teams papercut us to death with those 5-7 yard passes. A ton of those are in the middle of the field.

Bell,James,Grimble, and Johnson have 122 catches. Not exactly ignored. And who has "papercut us to death" in the last 5 games?

Short game sucks. What games do you watch ? Middle of the field is open all day every day. We've been getting our *** burned with that bs for years. We play 10 yards off guys. Why do you think the cheats beat (other than them listening to our ****)us every time? Middle of the field is soft like kitty fur and we don't press anyone. If you don't adapt you will never overcome....

Anyway short game in the middle of the field sucks. They need more plays exploiting it.

1. number 2 WR
2 number 2 WR
3 See number 1

AND too often go for the kill shot instead of taking what they give you. Now sometimes the kill shot WORKS, don't get me wrong, but dink and dunk down the field puts points on the board too, with the added benefit of keeping the ball away from the other team.

Because Tomlin sucks. Don't you read?

Relative to our talent level, yes he does.

The best coach we have is Munchak. As a result the OL who has talent over archives.

Eli young, Coates young, Hamilton, young, James young. Wheaton and Bey being injured is really hurting our O, they aren't great by any means but they know the offense and are on the same page with Ben. Green early in the Bengal game, made some wrong reads on a few of his routes. We have no deep threat, Green was getting there, but we've only had him a few games.

Can't compare us to NE, they run a short pass, west coast style O to begin with and Brady has full control there, Ben does not. Tomlin was even asked if Ben can audible as he pleases and Tomlin said only in certain situations, but depending on the personnel, formation, situation he does not have the option to audible.

“He understands where to go with things. He understands the run game, how it meshes with the pass game and those kinds of things,” said quarterbacks coach*Randy Fichtner*to reporters during last week’s OTAs and*highlighted again in an article by*Mike Prisuta*of steelers.com.

He’s been given an impressive amount of freedom by Haley, able to audible at the line, throw hot even on a called run, and run countless packaged plays that give him a run/pass option.

Not saying he can't ever audible, but Tomlin was asked at his press conference yesterday, and he said the formation, personnel, situation come into play if he can audible.
