Who's cut on Tuesday to make room for Bryant?

LB Ryan Shazier

CB Cortez Allen
TE Jesse James
LB Anthony Chickillo
G Chris Hubbard
 
Won't be Chickillo. Rumor was that AZ was trying to sign him to their active roster.
 
Chickillo by rule has to stay on the active roster for 3 weeks since he was signed from the practice squad. So he isn't being released.

I think that rule applies to another team plucking a player from a team's practice squad, not promoting an internal player.

I don't think that is true, nor the 3-week rule.

"If a practice squad player is signed to the active roster, he will receive a minimum of three weekly paychecks, even if he is released before spending three weeks with the team."

Pretty sure we are free to cut Chickillo.

but that eats into cap space for a player off the roster. they wont be cutting a D player for an O player. they have a glut at WR and RB/FB... the cut will come there

I don't think they cut Chickillo, was just making the point that they can if they want to. I'm on record saying Jesse James gets the axe unless Ventrone goes to IR.

A glut at WR. That's a joke. You cutting Sammie Coates or DHB to make room for Bryant (one drug test from being done as a Steeler)???

Bryant has been activated and Ross Ventrone has been cut. Maybe Ventrone is still practice squad eligible (due to new PS rules put in place last year)? Would be nice to bring him back when the hamstring is healed if there's another injury...
 
So they cut a guy who is fantastic on special teams?

Tomlin makes ZERO sense. Especially since our special teams are special ed and take too many dumb *** penalties.
 
Didn't see that one coming. That sucks for Ventrone. I love to watch him in on plays, because if you squinted, it seemed like Polamalu was back there again...
 
Archer survives another day. With him and Todman we have 4 f'n rb's on the team. Maybe we have to wait until Pouncey comes back to get rid of Archer?
 
Saw on twitter where Ventrone is hurt but they will bring him back in a few weeks.

S'all right, I did it during the game last week.

Ventrone will probably be back. Gotta keep Archer since he's short and those kicks will go over his head in the end zone.

I'd cut Todman right this second and sign this guy to replace him....


Dolphins waived RB Raheem Mostert.
The preseason star had been active just once since signing in Week 2. He'll reportedly be stashed back on the practice squad if he clears waivers.
