Who might the Steelers target in free agency?

Not sure who but I think they should have a sweet spot this year of being able to sign a FA in the $5-6 million per year range. Nothing earth shattering but hopefully someone to upgrade the secondary or get more pressure on the QB.

Agreed. Don't look for a big splash in FA, just someone who can be an upgrade to the weakest part of our secondary which shouldn't be too hard to find, a mid level type signing.

Junior Galette is a super piece of **** human being. The Saints ate 12million dollars just to get him the **** outta town.

To go this route we may just as well trade for Burfict. No thanks on prison fodder as players.

What are the chances that it's a guy like Eric Weddle? Would he come play here for that much? And, most importantly, what does everyone think about him as a potential target? Does he have enough left in the tank to be a true impact player the next year or two?

not sure if the Steelers would even be interested but

Dolphins released cornerback Brice McCain

McCain lasted one season in Miami after a big year with the Steelers in 2014 helped him land $3 million in guarantees from the Dolphins on the open market.

McCain, 29, was due to make $2.5 million in 2016. He finished 2015 with one interception, 10 pass breakups and 31 tackles in 11 starts.

Small potatoes, but I'm curious to see if a Cotchery ends up back here.

Can we use him? We can't even find time for the guys we have, Coates couldn't get on the field and he has much more upside than Cotchery.

they will target some 2nd or 3rd level FAs who hopefully can make an impact

With such limited cap space and AB, Bryant, Wheaton and Coats already here, why on earth would we seek a FA WR? Especially one who is as old and as limited as Crotchy?

I fully am aware of the WR corps and understand that there is no room at the inn and they need to address depth elsewhere. I was thinking out loud here when I read that he was released by Carolina. The other obvious thing to me here is that with Coates having a great showing at the end of the season, there might not be enough touches for Wheaton. Would he be willing to play 3rd or 4th receiver and play behind Coates?

trumaine johnson should be excluded from our list.
not because we couldnt use him. but because he's been a hot name on all the talk shows...which means his name is being bandied about and the douche reporters are picking up on it.

as well, we're pretty tight to the cap. Jacksonville has something like $75 million to spend. I'd look for them to make quite a few signings in FA.

I think Sean Smith would work here very well. Curious what he's worth after being on a few teams. Certainly not "elite" status, but is big, long and can tackle. Sounds like something we could use.

Weedle plays above the line, and produces splash plays.. he still has a lot left in the tank too.... fortunately we don't shop for Ufa's in our fears, so another year of Allen and Golden is in our future

He also takes off some half times to watch dances. Think it was before that Tomlin mentioned him.

He's the top FA CB after Norman. Smith is getting paid.

I don't think the Steelers need to be aggressive in the sense that a big-name is a must, but rather to make a few shrewd moves to fill some holes, add some depth and set this team up for a Super Bowl run next year when they should be one of the best teams in the NFL. You need to capitalize on these chances when you have them.
