Who is your "no, just no" guy in the 1st round?

I referenced one mock of 2022 done right after the 2021 draft. Rattler and Howell 1 & 2, 5 QBs taken in the top 15.
Rattler had only completed his redshirt freshman season at the time of the 2021 draft. But some mock draft by God knows who had him going #1 overall in 2022? OK. Can't imagine how that didn't pan out.

Agreed…
I do like using a third on Bell from Connecticut to fill that role..
However, it looks like the young man is really moving up the draft chart recently.. if we want him, we might have to use the second round on him and I’d rather have a solid run stopper, especially at inside linebacker to fill our second round slot
Bryce Lance Dino?

Well have to move up in the second to grab him but yes Bernard in the second would be like taking 8 Boner Bears at once!!!

You speaking from experience……………………….. asking for a friend………

Salute the nation

Berm is right on Simpson. No dice. He is also right about Proctor. One of the Steeler podcasts had pictures of Proctor at his pro day. He wasn't carrying a lot of bad weight. The scouts there were saying he looked and performed very well. I also agree with Berm and kick him inside to guard. Just his size alone would open up running lanes. With Jones and Cook at tackle, you can afford to take somebody developmental at T in later rounds, like Markel Bell from the U or Burke from Memphis, who are both monsters.
My first round wish list is Ionae, Proctor (G), or Kayden McDonald (NT).
2nd rd. Haulcey (S), Bernard (WR), or Rutledge(G) if my two in the first round are gone.
3rd round 3a picks Bell (WR) or Branch (WR). 3b pick Scott (CB) The U. 3c. Golday (LB) Cincy. or Big Citrus (ISU)

The point was, draft predictions a year out are folly.

Yes, folly is some draft nerd saying that a redshirt freshman with one season of starting experience is going to be the next first overall pick. A much more accurate prediction can be made about the 2027 QB class with Manning and Moore, who both are entering their fourth seasons of college football. That's the point.

Sam Howell was projected #2 overall after 2 stellar seasons as a starter, fell off his 3rd year and went on day 3.

Jesus, just a year ago, Allar and Beck were seasoned vets expected to be high first round picks a year later, both considered late day 2 or day 3 prospects a week before the draft.

Year out projections are always folly, and it's not just about young guys with little experience.

Bryce Lance Dino?
Very nice prospect… comes from an athletic family brother was a recent first round draft pick quarterback.
Young man had a solid career at North Dakota State against lower tier talent..
If you’re looking for someone with DK type skill sets that would play behind him and develop furtherfor the next year or two, he might be your guy.

Although I’d rather take a flyer on JaKobi Lane out of USCto fill that role. In my opinion, he is more battle tested and NFL ready than Lance is.. I also think that Lane is a better 50-50 contested catches wide out than Lance is..

Yeah, and back in April of 2025, nobody but nobody was predicting Fernando Mendoza as the first overall pick this year. Shlt changes. Howell's drop off was a surprise, but I knew for a fact that Allar was nowhere near top ten material, and I never thought Beck was that good.

Next year Dante Moore is all but guaranteed to go top 3. He could have been top 5 this year, and I have reports from spring practice that he is absolutely the real deal. I do not think Manning is going to regress with another year at Texas...do you? You have Sayin and Maiava who have first round potential. And chances are that some QB who no one is really talking about rises, like Mendoza did this year. So yes, I'm personally willing to confidently predict that 2027 will be a strong QB class, at least at the very top.

You and @Fiji Mariner and others can come back and chastise me next April if I'm wrong. How's that?

You're making my point with Mendoza. Passing on a QB this year because you think the class is better next year could backfire. The things you're saying about Moore were said about countless guys who never panned out.
