Who is coaching the Titans D again this year?

What are you talking about? Are you talking about one game? Really? One game out of an entire career? You really want to go there? How about Butler's "NO COVERAGE" of Gronk? Is that better?

Also this defense has played one good offense and gave up 28 points. They gave up over 400 yards to a SD team with a horrible OL. Also if you've watched the games they've had a ton of dropped balls that should have been TDs. NE had two.

Ok, and yes, I was saying there was NO reason to play man, and if you read the article, yes it was actually about that one playcall, and spells out why it was idiotic.

Hey, Rex said he was gonna cover Gronk too, how'd that work out for him? We can go back and forth here forever, but what I kept reading last year was the defense sucked because of talent. This year they finally are getting some turnovers, we had 5 freaking sacks against the Ravens, and they are at least keeping this team in games. You can spin it any way you want, but the way I see it, there isn't a whole lot of talent difference, and this defense is looking better than it did last year. The yardage stat is meaningless to me, always has been, you want to rank defense, you need to do it by points allowed. At any rate, this teams defense looks better this year than last, and not much has changed. I stated it before, I loved DickL, but it was time for a change, waiting years for someone to understand his defense just wasn't paying off anymore, these young starters need to hit the field running. See, DuPree, Bud.

Again you're using 5 games vs. an entire year. A year in which Troy and Ike were playing and Cam Thomas was one of the starting DL. You also had Worilds at LOLB and Moats trying to fill in all over the field. Of course yards don't mean anything EXCEPT it means in this case that they are dead LAST in TOP and that can wear them down by the end of the year. Which means they could give up more points right? Also why just points allowed? Why not point per drive? Isn't that really the most important?

Again isn't not covering Gronk for 3 plays as bad or worse than ONE play call? What's even more insightful is that almost everybody on this board blasted DL for not playing man and jamming the WRs. Now they ***** because he does it in TN for ONE PLAY. I don't give a damn about articles and their agendas. How people can ***** about DL not using that here and now ***** because he is using it there is beyond me. But that's Steeler Nation right now.

BTW many on here were talking about how Butler was going to play the DBs closer to the WRs now that DL is gone.. how's that working out?

We didn't cover Gates for 3 plays and still ended up beating SD. I don't know if that's a positive.

I also don't know if having Polamalu, Ike, and Worlids constitutes as 'better talent' compared to this year's group?

Our talentless, poorly, coached team held the *'s to the fewest points they've scored all season.

YEP!!! Hes gonna suggest SD is a ****** team....what he cant say is Rivers is a scrub QB, which hes not. Rivers leads (or at least he did prior to last nights Falcons/Saints game) the league in passing yards. SD is a tweener team.....inconsistent but they have talent on offense that rivals most teams in the league with Rivers, Gates/Green and Allen. Its been difficult for our team heading out west but this defense pulled together and helped to preserve a win. Ive noticed the improvement over last year.

Rivers threw 48 times ???......they couldn't run (as your 2.7 ypc stat indicates). Run defense is the strength so far...but pressure from the front 7 forces quicker/bad throws

Wait I thought yards didn't matter? Oh they matter when they make the Steelers look good...got it.

SD lost their starting LT and plugged in a backup center and moved some other pieces around. That was the first game they've EVER played together in those positions. You're terrible at understand what I'm going to say so you can't stop the Mrs. Cleo act... you suck at it. I've never mentioned Rivers.

Also the Steelers run defense is 15th in yards... which is about middle of the pack. Hardly a strength. But I guess it is a strength when you are 20th in passing yards....

Someone suffers from NPD.....dead ****** serious man.....I don't know why folks even argue with you. Youre never wrong (a legend in your own mind), spin arguments to fit your narrative. Theres not a damn thing you like about this team. NOTHING. Yet you parade like youre a fan or something. If this team frustrates you so goddamn much why do you even follow them ? Seriously bro, I really need understand where your head is at because to me, this would be masochistic..... to constantly become so disheartened with everything this team does and watch repeatedly week after week....gotta be torture for you. Im not suggesting you be the worlds biggest cheerleader...not at all. But you (and a few of the other peanut gallery dwarfs) are constantly ripping at this team--from ownership to coaches, to players and draft selections, to game management, to injuries. Ive yet to hear you say ANYTHING positive the last couple seasons.

Did I say yards mattered? I just posted some stats. You whined about Rivers throwing for 400 yards as if yards matter. I showed he threw more than 10 more passes than his average before that. I showed that in virtually every offensive stat INCLUDING points, they performed worse vs the Steelers than their avg before that.

So, now injuries matter, but the Steelers weren't missing Shazier and Spence is just as good as he is. I guess? We are playing these talentless, poorly coached players but SD had some injuries. I wonder if the Steelers were playing without their 1st round center or ILB.

No big deal. You should spin it as the Steelers are above reproach to a guy who absolutely believes the team shot the bed by signing a dog killing POS to the team. We should have hired Whiz. His team would be well enough coached to not give up a 10 or lead or allow 28 points to the Browns or 35 to the Colts. Colts haven't scored that many points against anyone else. Brown's have only scored more once.

More bullshit from a guy who adds NOTHING to the debate other than bitching about me and a few others. I've stood up for Ben many many times on here. Even when people wanted to trade him and draft Bridgewater. I was all for drafting Dupree and he has turned out well for a rookie. I liked the Tuitt pick. So either you can't read well or you just want to stir some more ****.

Blown leads are now bad coaching? Didn't the Steelers just give up a lead while having the ball on the rats side of the field with 2 minutes left? What happened to that defense? Yup, they gave up the game tying FG then gave up the game winning FG. So their DC sucks right?

I never whined about Rivers throwing for 400 yards. I NEVER mentioned him at all. He didn't throw for 400 anyway. The team had over 400 TOTAL YARDS. Which is exactly what I said. Go back and read it again. And I gave a reason why they had such a poor outing. They had a miss match OL that had NEVER played together. Hell we've bitched on here for years when the Steelers OL was getting Ben killed did we not? It's amazing that excuse after excuse can be made for the Steelers (missing our ILB and Center) but no excuse can be given for the other team. It's always just the Steelers that have injuries... no other team counts. I've already seen posts about how poorly Wallace play.. I know you have too. But for some reason no other team can use that.

I know you didn't want Vick. I totally agree with you there.

I think it's important to compare with other teams each year as officials rules / calls can vary per Goodell's desires,,,,pass interference for example ...
Yards per play (both pass and run) are virtually identical to the last 4 or 5 years.

LeBeau was and I'm sure still is a great DC. The Steelers wanted a younger guy when they started a defensive rebuild. Somewhat similar to what they did on offense. We'll see how smart that is in time.

I think this season we have taken on a more aggressive approach in certain situations than Dick did the past few years. While the yards and point might not make some happy..... not seeing the 10 yard cushion on third and 5 and the patty cake game our DL would play with the opposing team's OL is a very nice new approach in my opinion. It is not always about the numbers. We have become a little more aggressive in certain situations. And I believe have had some positive results.

Tell that to Smith, Hampton, and Keisel lol

I didn't know they were playing with us the last few seasons....LOL
Also they were not the guys to pressure the QB....they did plenty of patty caking in there time.

And the way the game is played today those three players might not have the same success that they did when they played in there day. Just a different game altogether.

Au Contraire, Monsieur LeBeau is not the DC. In fact, that title goes to another prominent ex-Stiller.....

_Ray Horton___Defensive Coordinator
2007-10: Defensive Backs Coach, Pittsburgh Steelers
2004-06: Assistant Defensive Backs Coach, Pittsburgh Steelers

Another ribald fact is that we call Arizona "Pittsburgh West" because their coach and all the ex-Steelers they have but the Titans got a few ex-coaches as well.

Pittsburgh South maybe ?

Dick LeBeau___Assistant Head Coach / Defense
2004-14: Defensive Coordinator, Pittsburgh Steelers
1995-96: Defensive Coordinator, Pittsburgh Steelers
1992-94: Secondary, Pittsburgh Steelers

Mike Mularkey___Assistant Head Coach / Tight Ends
2001-03: Offensive Coordinator, Pittsburgh Steelers
1996-2000: Tight Ends, Pittsburgh Steelers
