The running game has been looking pretty rough lately. With Snell looking to return and having Edmunds and Samuels who gets the most carries? Smell was running pretty well before he got hurt.

Guess it depends on situational football.Personally I give more reps to Snell as he has showed the most potential as a runner. I would put Jaysam in on passing downs...

Conner 18
Snell 12
Samuals 5

My fantasy team says Snell

It doesn't matter who we put in the backfield as long as we continue to run this dink/dunk offense with little threat of downfield passing. Teams have been stacking the box and no matter how good your OL is, you are not going to consistently beat 8-9 men in the box. Until teams respect our ability to effectively throw the ball vertically our running game will continue to be stagnated.

last time conner pounded them into submissiuon if he is out start snell.

If I'm the coach, I feature Benny. The guy hasn't had many opportunities to run the ball (28 TOTAL carries with a 4.2 yard average). Get him rolling and see what we have. This 2 carries one game, 3 another game bullshit is hard to judge. Feature Benny, and bring JaySam in on 3rd down.

I can't see Conner carrying the load. Figure this guy's shoulder is jacked for a few more weeks.

If the Steelers see Conner as a long term answer at RB, I really don't get why they keep rushing him back. There is no way to protect or avoid hits to the shoulder as a RB. Anyone with a pulse knows this team is not sniffing a SB this year, why not protect Conner and sit him for a month and let his shoulder heal. If it is an injury that will ultimately require surgery, let him have it now and be back to 100% for the start of OTA. They need to be realistic about where they are as a team and what the bigger long term picture is.

I don't see him long term anything for us. Injury prone AND fumbles. We can draft a replacement this year

Conner is already ruled out based on what Yahoo FF says and that is what I will assume. Nothing will change after that. Jaysam will get the overwhelming majority of the touches from the backfield as he should. He is still by far our No. 2 back. He can run more than adequate and he is our best receiver out of the backfield. If we are going to win this game without JuJu and still possibly without Diontae (or even with him), Jaysam is going to have to have a monster game. I'd love for him to have 150+ from scrimmage and at least 1 TD.

I have optimism DJ is going to play. That helps a lot. Still the OL has pass block well. I'm sure the line will be stacked. You have to make them pay to back them off.

Jaysam is by far the number 2 based on what? He struggles on the ground but is a solid pass catching RB. I wouldn't say he is light years on anyone behind him on the depth chart...

Based on watching him play this year and last year. Snell has done nothing and has been injured. The one game Edmunds played when Conner was previously out, he ran the wrong way and cost us a TD at the goal line. So, I would say Jaysam is still easily our best bet as the back up and has been. The dude is actually still learning the running side of the RB position and has put up good to big numbers from scrimmage any time he's been in there. So, he still has a good bit of upside. That coupled with the fact that our O-line sucks blocking for any RB and we are short on receivers and Rudolph needs a security blanket, I would be shocked if Jaysam didn't get at least 75% of the snaps this weekend. He is our best receiving back by far and we will need that to beat the Bungholes.

P.S. Which of our RB's hasn't struggled running behind our terrible o-line?

James almost has 4 yards per carry. Snell and Edmunds have over four yards per carry. and Jaysam has a whopping 2.6 yards per carry. I would say three of the 4 have done ok on the ground, not great not terrible ok.Now 2.6 yards per carry? sucks ***.

That's based on the stats which paints a goodeye ball test in comparison to the backs this season.

Jaysam did better last year. But teams couldn't crowd the line of scrimmage either....

which would effect the running game obviously statistically.. as would an often injured FB.

I agree with all you said, but Snell has not had much of a chance. 28 carries all year, and those were sporadic. He has never been given the chance to run a whole series. It's always one run, the out. Another run, then out.

..
Snell and Edmunds sample sizes are much smaller. They come in as a change of pace so you can't really compare that. I think Jaysam does have a lot of room to improve in his running, no doubt. As I said, this is really his 2nd year as a RB as he didn't run much in college. But, having him in the game, gives us the best chance of winning because of his dual threat. I actually liked Brooks-James in the few carries he had when they brought him in and thought he should be on the team for kick returns and our No. 4 back but they cut him. The dude was fast and hit the smallest of holes with a burst. We really don't have that on the team right now. I still think Jaysam sees 75% of the snaps as they will be dumping the ball to him a lot. I can see him getting at least 10 catches in this game for us to have a chance to win. If Snell or Edmunds can do that, more power to them but we haven't seen it yet.

Conner will get as many carries as the US postal service.

up until or if they already haven't,..................... the wheels have fallen off.

Reality is that Mr. Mike Tomlin if fighting for his NON-losing season NOW, not next year.
