Where's Big Snack II?

I've been saying it since he retired. We need another Big Snack in the middle that can command double teams on the run and the pass. The "experts" keep saying we don't play that way any more. My question has always been why the **** not? We need 3 good DL on the field on all downs. Yet we run so many plays with 2 DL. It is just baffling to me.

A Big Snack II is a must in free agency or the draft. Look at the dude the Jags picked up from Buffalo. He solidified their run D sacked Ben today.
 
Exactly. Before Big Snack we had Joel Steed, who was even better. A 3-4 without a beast nose tackle is going to be soft. Combine that with the weakest LBing crew in decades and you see what happens.

That's why Butler or whoever is calling that **** has to go. The game is still won in the trenches with the Big Uglies. The OL verses the DL or the D-front. 2 DL and 2 LB's will get pushed around by a much larger OL on most plays.

I totally agree with this, drives me crazy, hell Baltimore uses to DTs on early downs, and our best perimeter pass rusher Watt rushes the qb 25% of the time.
This is why Jags are such a bad match up for us, they don't mind using 6 guys to block or more and they just double our 3 pass rushers

I was just thinking the exact same thing and was going to post it in another thread. The jags had a big fat guy in the middle, and the Steelers didn’t. Hargrave is not the answer. McCullers is too tall. They need a short squat heavy strong as an ox immovable object in the middle of the defensive line. Or they need to go back to a 4/3 setup. Dupree stinks sorry to say. Need another MLB next to Bince. Need a new Def coach. The offense is fine. Need a new offensive coordinator is all.
 
A player like that would have been great today and eliminated by a team like the Patriots. Game has evolved and so has body types.

No way. You still need to get pressure on Brady. And, the thing he hates the most is a collapsing pocket. How do you collapse the pocket? With a big guy up the middle demanding a double team.

On an side, notice on the Jags 4th and 1 for their first TD. It was up the middle and we had no one there. The RB jumped and hit nothing but air until he landed. You know its a run, at least make the RB go one way or the other, not the shortest and most obvious distance.
 
The ONLY way to stop Brady is to get pressure up the middle. Ray Lewis was on Colin Coherds show the other day and said rushing Brady from the outside was worthless and they showed some of the schemes and footage of how the Rats attack Brady up the middle but Tomlin is too stupid to X and O against Brady. Pass coverage schemes mean **** against him, even yesterday ot was pressure that hurt him not changing or disguising blitzes.
 
What I see in the multiple receiver sets is the big huge nose going to tge bench. Not saying that it should be that way. Just saying it is.
 
Our entire defensive front 7 was weak against the run all season. Remember the days of aaron smith clogging up the run or running a back down from the backside. There run D was not the normal wall we are used to having
 
We have Big Snack II. His name is Dan McCullers and he rarely gets a hat. In other words he sucks, like over half of Tombert's defensive draft picks for the last 8 years.

Yet somehow the coaching staff thought Deebo wasn't as good as the stiffs they trotted out there today.

Yes, that's common sense, that's how Houston stayed in the playoff game there last year, Clowney up the middle, all QBs hate it when they can't step up, that's why going with just 2 DL is ******* idiotic.

Our LB's are a problem, so why is NOW not a good time to switch to a 4-3 D?
Tuitt & Heyward + 2 others on the DL
Williams & Watt +1 LB
Hayden, Davis, Sutton/Burns + 1 S

Maybe even a Hybrid S/LB for the Gronk issues

Yep, the only way to get consistent pressure against todays quick timing passing offenses is pressure up the middle.

I would rather take out a LB and replace with a Hybrid S/LB than take out a DL. Send 6 EVERY TIME, make the O commit to max protect each play. 5 should be able to cover 3.

Always thought Shazier would have made a freakish hybrid S/LB. Kind of like Troy with much more speed and range.
