When will Bell regain form?

Lol, this is his 2nd game w/ barely a cup of coffee in the preseason. Relax

And who's fault is that? Certainly not the coaches or the other 52 players that showed up to camp. His ego wrote some huge checks, and his *** can't cash it.

When has Bell ever broke a run and outran anyone for 40 or 50 plus yards for a TD? If he has I can't remember him ever doing it. Yet we see other RBs do this all the time.

He basically killed 2 drives today by himself with his tippy toe sideways running.

He did ok, but let's be real, he looked nothing like he did last year.

its early

he will

He better do it quick if he's gonna wrangle 17 a year off somebody next year. 2 games down, 13 to go. Teams don't give that kind of money for "good". You better be astronomical for the majority of a season.

I think this year will quiet those demands...

Not a lot of ypc. Kept the ball moving, though and got through on a few good runs.

Exactly the only person this is affecting is Bell's money..it shouldnt effect the Steelers offense we have too many weapons. Maybe this will bring his demands and help us keep him... but he will be back up to speed soon and we need the Oline to step up also. Run blocking hasnt been good either

Think about this with rust andd facing a good Viking run D he is what still 6th statistically out of the gates?

Bell will be just fine peeps.

not every team has the run D that the vikings have, especially when committed to stuff the run, like the browns also did

Elliot didn't fare well today, either.

Bell will be fine.
Regain form by week 4/5/6 imo

I am not really a huge bell fan, but we did play 2 good defenses. I think the team will be fine either way. I think Bell is way overrated for his "effect" on the offense. I think Bryant is the true missing link. If Bryant gets going it will give JuJu and Rodgers chances, but it's up to Ben to use them. I am not sure why they are obsessed with the deep balls. Bryant is deadly on slants and if they creep up use the slant and go. Of course that would requiring game planning and adjusting so nevermind.

You realize bell showed up after preseason was over,...............right???

Agreed he lacks his usual explosion. But he had some impressive runs today, and the line was really not impressive today. Vikings have a really good defensive line

Emphasis on the Viqueens run defense, they are VERY good and keyed in on bell. Bell will need another week or two...

I saw improvement today against one of the best run D's in the NFL. Bell will be fine. He will have over 150 yards next week. Write it down.

Against a weak Bear's team I would hope he gets it. I think though that 150 will be all purpose yards.

I guess I'm alone on this but Bell got them yards pretty much on his own. I still believe the line needs to step it up too.

Your NOT alone SteelChip as many here are with you....

That's the thing, BELL screwed himself as most could see last year was an anomaly due to #4 & #5 receivers playing in the #2 spot. This year we have our legitimate receivers and that will show in Bells stat(s).

Nail meet Hammer, you nailed it right on the head. Not only will Bell get going but OL will get it going too.

Bell's day:

Rushing: 27 carries. 87 yards. Lowly 3.2 yards per rushing attempt.

Receiving: 4 catches, 4 yards total. 1.0 per catch

Okay, this isn't very good, well below NFL starting backs, and far away from what a player getting franchise money should produce.

Exactly what is the problem? On some plays, the OL did its job, on others no so much. So it wasn't all Bell's fault.

My main observation is this. I just don't see the explosiveness or quickness in Bell's game right now, and he's not breaking much tackle either.

After two full games, you'd expect them to re-gain form.

If this trend continues, I want to see more of Conner and Watson.

Coach, the problem is Bell was only in conditioning shape and not fully to his potential at that. Bell was doing to many things besides football while MIA. He is going to need a couple more and maybe around 4/5/6 week he will look a lot better. No worries as he will get there but also realize with the other weapons, we won't need him to carry this team as like last year. Simply put, BELL shot himself in the foot by not signing the deal offered. Bell will NOT get the #s of opportunities that he got last year and his statistical numbers will be down. He will be glad to get franchise pay$$$ next year as there won't be the giant contract offers he thinks he deserves. I want him to succeed but with our WR situation different than last year and actual RB reserves that are legitimately talented, I see Bell as mere mortal this season.

Yeah Get back Deangelo,, I'm with you 100 %!!!!

Watch the other RBs in the league.. they run and go forward. They don't hesitate nearly as mcuch as Bell.

This wouldn't be such a big deal if he didn't make rap songs and demand to be paid as the best RB in the league. Which thus far he hasn't proven that he is. He can't finish a full season and he has suspension issues.

Let's see what he does the rest of this season. But so far he's not worth even close to 15M/year

There were a few times today where Bell just needed to run instead of hesitating, maybe that is rust/timing, but there were runs to be made had he just hit the hole and run

The fork has been put in. DeAngelo isn't coming back and if he did get ready for Duece Staley sweat pants. The ship has sailed. Conner & Wilcox are better than D'will.

I know alot compared freeman to bell. Watching freeman now and he looks explosive while bell looks sluggish. Now speed / explosiveness is not bells game, but don't think you can argue that bell is 2x as good as freeman.

Castro's is. If you have game taped,, watch for him.

It was sarcasm. For coach. Go home youre drunk.

I didn't see the sarcasm alert as some here actually do think D'will would be a good option. I was just making sure. As for the "Drunk" part, you're way off base so go jump in a lake for you don't know what you speak of.

PITTSBURGH -- Not sure what to expect, citing "mixed emotions" from fans on social media, Le'Veon Bell called the cheers from the Heinz Field crowd during pregame introductions on Sunday "amazing."

"It was good to feel the crowd was still behind me," Bell said after the Pittsburgh Steelers' 26-9 win over the Minnesota Vikings. "The crazy ovation meant a lot to me."

Now that that's over, Bell is starting to feel like himself again -- slowly.

After missing all of August before signing his franchise tender, the Steelers' star back hasn't fully unlocked his potential for 2017 but is inching closer to full impact. The Steelers' modest 40-point offensive start through two games can be traced, in part, to the team's 2.8 yards per rush. Bell's 87-yard performance on 27 carries Sunday wasn't electric, but it showed progress, and toughness.

In the first quarter, the Steelers lined up with a third tackle (Chris Hubbard as a tight end) and "let them know off the run we're coming with the big guys and we're about to run," Bell said. The result was 20 yards on the ground, but the mentality set a tone.

Bell took on a big workload, which is what he wanted. He played smart, avoiding big hits when possible. Now if he can only figure out the big-play dynamic, he'll be good.

His longest run through two games is 15 yards, of which Bell is well aware.

"I'm due for an explosion play," Bell said.

Bell said he felt an opening on at least three plays, but the Vikings made the sound tackle.

Coming off groin surgery during the offseason, Bell is eager to prove he can still break those plays. The groin is not an issue during games, he said.

Bell hasn't been as active in the Steelers' passing game, which is rolling mostly with Antonio Brown, Martavis Bryant, Eli Rogers, JuJu Smith-Schuster and tight end Jesse James. That plan can expand, but so far those five are the primary targets.

Bell is too good of a pass-catcher not to get more involved eventually, but for now his role is to wear defenses down with anywhere from 20 to 30 carries.

"It might take 20, 25 runs, but one of them is going to pop [eventually]," Bell said about his mentality in the second halves of games, when he feels he gets stronger.

On Sunday, those pops were "only like 6 to 8" yards in most cases, he admits. But the Steelers know they need Bell to carry a massive load against physical, talented fronts like Minnesota's. Otherwise, they have more chances to go after Ben Roethlisberger in the pocket, which is not what the Steelers want for their 35-year-old quarterback.

That's why Sunday's plan, though not flashy, worked despite some missed chances for big plays.

"We grew as a group today," Bell said.
