Bell's day:

Rushing: 27 carries. 87 yards. Lowly 3.2 yards per rushing attempt.

Receiving: 4 catches, 4 yards total. 1.0 per catch

Okay, this isn't very good, well below NFL starting backs, and far away from what a player getting franchise money should produce.

Exactly what is the problem? On some plays, the OL did its job, on others no so much. So it wasn't all Bell's fault.

My main observation is this. I just don't see the explosiveness or quickness in Bell's game right now, and he's not breaking much tackle either.

After two full games, you'd expect them to re-gain form.

If this trend continues, I want to see more of Conner and Watson.

Even though the stats might not show it.....I think Bell had some good runs and key first down conversions in short yardage. He will only get better!

Lol, this is his 2nd game w/ barely a cup of coffee in the preseason. Relax

How many game does he really need? We are going into game 3. If he's not back to normal by game three, perhaps he didn't take football seriously enough in the off season.

We'll see but another game like this and fans should wonder.

He played better today but not great by any stretch. The O was very predictable on most of the running plays. We had many run, run, passes and many more runs on first down. Minnesota is known for blitzing the run on first down and they did today as evident with Bell getting hit behind or at the line on most 1st downs. We did nothing to counter that. Bell had 2 or 3 close to ten yard rushes but that was about it. He didn't break anything or come close to breaking anything.

The biggest disturbing thing is they did not go to him out of the backfield. I think they finally threw one dump off to him late in the game but nothing early and no screens. They lined him up as a WR more than keeping him in the backfield and giving the D more to think about. With our WR's this year, there is no reason to line him up outside.

He is getting better but as I said, still nowhere near last years level and nowhere near a top RB this year. And, the play calling is not conducive to him being very productive at this point.

Agreed he lacks his usual explosion. But he had some impressive runs today, and the line was really not impressive today. Vikings have a really good defensive line

My guess is that we'll see the old Bell next week. A good 3 weeks of contact should get his timing back and his football legs underneath him.

Typically, you are not looking at all the variables, as Slash said, Vikes D much improved and pretty darn good against the run. Additionally, held 84 in check until the 4th.

Just like the rest of the team, improving each week. He will go off on the Bears and that still not be good enough because they don't have a real D, right? He may be lacking explosion, but today was his first full game. His work load is increasing, as will his endurance, speed and strength.

I saw improvement today against one of the best run D's in the NFL. Bell will be fine. He will have over 150 yards next week. Write it down.

I guess I'm alone on this but Bell got them yards pretty much on his own. I still believe the line needs to step it up too.

You are not alone..but there were at least three instances where i thought he missed a hole.

Vikings have a tough defense. Bell also looks a half step slow. He was gaining some big yards last year in similar situations. I am going to contradict myself some, but while I did not have a problem with him holding out, I also have no patience for him working himself into game shape during the season.

In the grand scheme of the days stats. It wasn't a great day for running backs. With that note; as of now Bell had a good day in comparison.

It is what it is. Perhaps next year moments like game 1 and 2, will remind him why holding out all of camp really isn't beneficial to him.
