Be a franchise QB?
Sorry guys but I truly believe we are running out of time for Mason to prove he can be a franchise QB. Maybe I’m overlooking something obvious, but don’t franchise QBs typically at least flash by now? Have some type of “it” factor that make you excited about having them back there, make you look forward to the next X number of years with them as the QB?
Sorry but I feel like Mason has had plenty of time to demonstrate he can be the future for us but has not. His best games are when he safely dumps off and lets the defense do the work. His deep shots only work when wide open (part of this is on crappy receiver play too, to be fair).
Today he was flat out brutal. Some of those INTs were just, pure and simple, Nathan Peterman-esque. I believe tonight told us a lot about who Mason is.. some of it good (like standing up to bullies and being a tough SOB) but a lot of it not so good. He is absolutely terrible at feeling the rush, cannot create space for himself in the pocket (which is a must), and processes things incredibly slowly. Not to mention he is painfully inaccurate on short yardage/tight window throws. You just have to be able to consistently hit those and keep chains moving.
I hate to say it but I think I’m out of patience with respect to “waiting for him to develop” into a franchise QB. A true franchise QB would not still have so many red flags and open questions at this point.
Quack quack *****. Get better soon Ben
