Easy $$$ for him this year.
As expected. Should be able to bring him back relatively cheap next year if they want to. He's a decent No. 3 or 4 WR when healthy.

Yep if we can keep him as a cheap #4 with AB, Bryant, and Rogers as the top 3 and Coates as the 5th, I'm okay with that. But he's gotta be cheap, like DHB cheap
Wheaton is in no position to demand top dollar. He's roughyl DHB material at best. If he does decided to walk in pursuit of green pastures, well he won't fit a system imo. His playing days would be numbered. All Steelers bias aside, I just think he has a better chance of playing football for a living in the B&G. If he does walk and I can see the Titans or Cardinals picking him up. He's gonna fall off the football map

He may request to get a one year deal from Pitt to increase his stock value for free agency in 2018. If the numbers are palatable, it would be a win for both sides.

That makes sense as long is a #3 WR kind of contract at best. But he will probably get a two year deal for #2 money somewhere else. The kid had very good numbers when healthy

Let's not get crazy. He had a couple good games but has always been "just a guy" in this offense. He's been a pretty huge disappointment in my mind considering the attention drawn away from him by talents like Bell, Brown, and Bryant
I agree, he's not bad, he's not great, he's a JAG, nothing wrong with that but he's not the sort you overpay for either. A ton of JAG WR's come out of college every year.
He may never see the Steelers again unless it's in another uniform. He fits the Patriots mold.

I'd say almost no shot of him coming back. Probably the Browns or Ravens sign him.

anyone with +600 yds a season can be helpful to any team in the NFL. Last season he was 56th in receiving yards for a WR, Martavis was ahead of him, the Steelers had 3 WRs in the top 64 and of course AB was #1

I don't think this is the year to take a QB. There just aren't many talented guys out there, and we can't afford another wasted pick like Landry. I say we try to bring in a decent veteran backup for next year and draft one in the FIRST round in 2018 like Jake Browning
Flashes and disappears. Too bad his season never got off the ground. **** the Steelers have a lot of injury prone players.
No worth awhile QB's this season imo. Try to win with Ben for a couple more seasons if possible. Sam Darnold(USC) or Jake Eason(UGA) have a good chance of developing into next level talent. Steelers need another WR no doubt, OL(possibly center and move Pouncey elsewhere), fire Butler and Lake and find a guy who is willing to change the defensive philosophy. Wasn't Tomlin a defensive back "genius"?
I think wheaton catches on elsewhere... He isnt bad and has limited touches here

The Steelers really need a legit No. 2 receiver. Things were looking good when AB, Bryant, Wheaton, DHB, Coates and Rogers was the depth chart. It is pretty bad right now without Bryant, Wheaton, DHB and Coates having a damaged hand.

Wheaton is gone unless his contract number is very affordable. If we overpay for him then TOMBERT needs a kick in the *** as they are headed out the door. As for drafting a QB IN 2017, NO THANKS. We do need a legitamite back up NOT named laundry jones!!!
