It's the secondary. Not sure even Haden would play for them. Otherwise the front 7 on D are pretty equal and our O is a bit better than them.

Scheme, they use 4 linemen on passing downs we use 2.

That's a pretty simple 5th grade math there.
You have 5 OLinemen who all weigh 290-330, and we send 2 guys that weigh 290-300lbs to try to push and get by them. Or like the Pat's and most teams you use 4 guys that weigh 290-300 lbs.

Yes their secondary is better

player wise?

The Steeler players are coached by a functional retard.

The P*ts players are coached by an unscrupulous *******.

I'd say this. Ben at his highest is as good or better than Brady but he simply is not consistently as good. Steelers have way more weapons and a great oline. Defense their MLB is terrific their secondary is better but then chung was hurt no dropoff. Haden plays on that defense for sure. They are just better coached. Period.

No team's DBs in the nfl are allowed to play like pats****** DBs are allowed to. The literally hold on every play and dare the refs to throw flags against the great Bellicose Bill.
Hell Haden gets called for two PIs at New Orleans but the Pat's have what 4 called all year

This.

Plus they are coached much better. They have no divas. Edelman makes a paupers salary compared to others. Individual players on other teams may be better, except for QB - but as a cohesive team, no one is better right now and that is all on coaching. Pains me to say that. Pains me to see them tie the Steelers, but it is what it is. I dislike the Pats. The Steelers have suffered from poor coaching and in some case lately, owners not making good decisions and they are paying for it.

With their 4 rushing DL, the Pats had 30 regular season sacks to Steelers 52.

How many turnovers? How many wins? How'd they do in the playoffs? And we don't just use 2 DLINEMEN on passing downs, we've used it on goal line and short yardage as well. How many 4th quarter leads did they give up?
How many of those sacks came vs the top QBs? That's who eat the 2 Dlinemen schemes up

Brains for some athletic ability in others. The cheats draft and keep smart players. They plug in top level free agents. Add Tom Brady and presto 9 Super Bowl appearances.

Sacks are not the entire story as the game showed Sunday. Constant pressure up the middle disrupts the QB and leads to INTs and a breakdown of the passing game. How many times did we see the Steelers with a sack or two on a drive that eventually ended up in their scoring against us. A 7 yard sack on second and 2 ends up a 3rd and 9 and then they convert so what was the true value of the sack ?j

Put Pressure on Brady up the middle and he gets happy feet and gets flustered. This is one of a ton of issues that elude the dolt we employ as our head coach.

They wear red white and blue and we wear black and gold

The Steelers players are not coached by "teachers". Regardless of the "system", Belichik and his staff study and instruct their players how to play the game.
HCMT may "watch film" but who knows what he and his staff are looking at or WTF they are breaking down to the team?

think the Pats used a lot of 2/6 defense with 6 stunting and blitzing LB's. Maybe dumb but worked for them. Might be coaching but more likely is players.

Really ? The difference I see is exactly what Hines said the other day.

The Steelers have become like those other teams: A talented but disorganized and underachieving lot that’s more known for their headlines off the field than the ones they make on it.

We have morphed into the Bengals and we will be gettin' our *** handed to us by the Browns on a regular basis if it isn't corrected soon.

Difference Between Pats and Steelers....indeed.

Haden would start for New England. Coaching, and drafting / singing veteran free agents with smarts are things New England does better. Our pass rush is better than theirs.

We've got to upgrade the other starting corner, and find better than Sean " I miss the most tackles and make few plays" Davis. That and hope Edumunds develops. Without Haden, who's getting there in age, we are dead meat.

I'd like to see two of our first four picks spent on DB's.

To me, the most glaring thing is the coaching staff, top to bottom. If they lead from the front and instill discipline equally for everyone, a lot of the problems the team faces will take care of themselves. On the field, pay attention to detail and play to your strengths. Adjust to what the other team is doing. You have a talented team, but you ain't Alabama lined up against the Citadel. You earn your breaks in the NFL.

I heard some crazy playoff stats that I'm trying to get.
When Brady throw more INTs than TDs in playoff games NE is still like 6-3 in those games. When his rating is below 78, the Pat's are still 7-3.
When he does not throw a TD the Pat's are 5-0.

So they still win when their best player doesn't play well

These are all from memory, but they're close if not correct

Pats have better players in the secondary. They put more emphasis on their secondary.

Umm, it's a passing league. The fact that Pittsburgh attempts to assemble a secondary with castoffs, over-the-hills, or late round picks says it all.

Finally, when we do use first round picks on the secondary (Burns and Edmunds) we reach with both picks on "potential" guys rather than players that the rest of the world thought were better suited to 1st round selections. One (Burns) has been a complete failure. We shall see with the other.

Secondary - it's a passing league. This is not hard. New England is just a lot smarter.

The truth hurts. They are much smarter. If we had Belichick as the head coach, I bet we would have won at least two more super bowls by now.

Edumunds has speed and size going for him, but his awareness was poor. Being good safety has a lot to do with football IQ and instincts. We'll see if he improves as a rookie, or sustains a sophomore slump now that teams have more film on him. Time will tell.

I do not think Edmunds is a good coverage safety, and he has to have better ball awareness and learn when to turn his head around to locate the football. However, when he sees it, he has the hands and playmaking ability to be a factor.

I think better safeties were drafted in rounds 2-3. We will never know if Edmunds could have been selected in round two. Most pundits saw him as a second round pick or non-top 50 player
