By: Michael Stiffler, @Stiffeezy_ on Twitter SteelerNation.com * The Pittsburgh Steelers 2019 leading receiver James Washington is finding himself at the bottom of the pecking order midway through the season. Washington had a very explosive 2019 year in a season full of dull moments. He routinely made the “splash” plays that would jumpstart a stale […]

Dionte Johnson. That’s why. No other reason. I’d rather see Washington, Juju and Claypool. Those are my top 3. I thought the passing game was a bit better when Johnson was out of the line up. Johnson’s route running is good. Like another poster pointed out in another thread, he seems suprised when he catches the ball. 13, 19, and 11 plus Ebron on the field causes match up dilemmas for the the opposing defenses. They all are big strong receivers.

Nice write up and research Stiffler.!

James Washington is just as the article says, odd man out.....currently. I thin k Deonte Johnson is faster and a little more dynamic, that little squirt that slips out when needed. Washington can catch and you know he can combat catch and win those battles. The coaching staff sees these guys on a daily basis and chose the one they think best helps the team. It's nice to have HUGE DEEP DEPTH in that WR's room. James has shown no signs of beheival towards any of the team.

TWO men enter, ONE man play

Last year ben was not here for Washington’s emergence...

Here is the issue.... Dionte is AB lite.... hehas the skillset to run all of those quickness routes... Washington isn’t doing those
JuJu is wardesque... he is the physical guy who can get the ball in traffic and still have big play ability

Claypool is a physical freak.. a better version of Plex or Martavis... he is a big play opportunity every time he is targeted

Washington is a average sized average speed average quickness physical guy... He is a great 4, but there isn’t a specific role he is going to outshine these other guys in... he is left scraps for targets...

Ya. Unfortunately Johnson can't catch a cold... In Alaska... In Winter.

Ben keeps throwing opportunities (passes) at him and he keeps (literally) dropping the ball.
Meanwhile, boring Ole James has a MUCH better catch percentage.

let's see what happens when the weather gets cold. But loving all our options. Sorry, but Ben still doesn't have it all together on the long ball. And is getting it out quicker than the past may be screwing up the timing for some of the WR's But yep, hating the easy drops and just wondering what is causing them. For me, cool to be 8-0 and know this.
