What you just witnessed...

They were lucky to tie a team that had lost 31 of 32 previous games.

Actually, it's even worse -- the Browns had lost 34 of their previous 35 games. They lost the last 3 in 2015 as well.

Who the **** plays for a 42 yard field goal in a monsoon?

I'll tell you who:

Hue Jackson (1-31-1 over the last 2+ seasons as a head coach, yet somehow improbably still employed and making millions of dollars), of the Cleveland Browns!

They got the ball on the Steelers' 25 with 36 seconds left. Lost a yard with a Hyde run. Chose to let the clock run down to 13 seconds (?), then spike the ball to stop the clock. Trot Zane Gonzalez on to the field. Promptly get the 43-yard attempt blocked on third down.

Tomlin and Jackson -- two unarmed opponents matching wits...no surprise it ended in a tie.

Then they should have inserted Washington into the game to see if that would have made a spark. The guy at least knows how to catch the ball.

Completely agree. I dunno why Washington wasn’t out there. I’m sure it had to do with Hunter having a decent preseason, and sort of earning playing time through there, but he cannot he the #3 guy next week.

What we witnessed was living in our fears. Tomlin always says they don't live in their fears but time and time again, that is exactly what they do.

They are afraid Ben might get hurt in the pre-season so he is one of the very few starting QB's that only plays a couple series in one game. Two years in a row now, Ben has been terrible to start the season because he is not sharp and he is not in sync with his receivers during real game speed (not practice).

Then, we have all witnessed countless times where we go in an ultra-conservative shell way too early. He is living in the fear of the team making a mistake. Well, we had a 2 TD lead today but in this league, that is not safe unless you are inside the 2 minute warning. We went in a shell with almost 10 minutes to play and had one miscue that resulted in a TD and then a 2nd miscue that resulted in a tie game. Then, adding insult to injury, we get inside the Browns 40 in OT and instead of continue to try and gain yardage and even maybe get a TD, we went ultra-conservative and settled for a 42 yard FG try in terrible conditions.

Next time he says that statement someone needs to call him out on it on the spot. Sure, the O could have played better (particularly Ben) along with the D. But, none of that even happens if he isn't constantly living in his fears.

Exactly.

Yet his apologists will tell you how wonderfully aggressive Tomlin is, or how his clock management was flawless last year.

My concern is we don't have a legit #3 option in the passing game.

My concern is that the Steelers didn't put their legitimate #3 option in the passing game (Washington) on the field. In fact, they even put a kick return specialist (who recently joined the team) out there instead.

Hopefully Washington gets some reps on O.
He fights for footballs which is what we could've used yesterday.

Anywho onto KC

Was a ******* clinic on how you lose a football game to a ****** team. Somehow, some way, they managed to tie a ****** football team. They didn't deserve that result. They deserved to lose.

I read here all week how it was "just the Browns."

The Steelers looked a whole lot more like the Browns than the Browns did. ]

That **** was sorry. They played give up football from about 19 minutes to go. They were lucky to tie a team that had lost 31 of 32 previous games.

Looking back at the game, Ben forced 3 of the 6 TOs. The 2 INTs to AB. One in the red zone and the other his chuck and pray throw. The late fumble on the low snap, Ben needed to eat that and take the sack. The other turnovers were either weather related or missed blocks or James ****** hands. Big Al got beat when Conner got stripped. Gilbert got beat on another TO.

The weather played hell with our offense. We didn't use the middle of the field and that hurt. I would like to see Washington get some PT at WR in the slot.

Not our best game. We need to see how bad Haden is hurt too. They went right after Sutton once Haden was out of the game.

Cleveland is still the Clowns. We gift wrapped that ******* tie yesterday with the turnovers.

I been trying to not over react but simply we gave that game away.

I am with everyone on how great Conner played, and I agree, but his fumble gave the Browns life. Winning teams do not do that in the 4th quarter.

Ben, well, I get the weather was awful, but his ball security was terrible and some of his throws just awful.

The D I thought played really well, especially Watt, Bostic, Vince, Haden, Cam and Tuitt.

As for Burns, I have had enough, Tomlin should have sat him the rest of the game.

Officials did not help us much.

Also I get it BoZ missed the FG, but seriously as some others have said, why play for a 42 yd FG in a driving rain storm.

We need to get are head on straight for KC, Mahomes can sling it and Tyrek Hill is unbelivable

He turned a 15-yard penalty into a 30-yard penalty. "Don't live in your fears, and don't believe your ears."
They could only accept one, my point is Burns played well, except for a bonehead play that resulted in extending a drive for the Browns that ended up a TD drive

Did Burns allow a reception? His 15 yarder was idiotic

The biggest problem I have with Tomlin is that the team is not disciplined at all. Too much "look at me" bullshit happening all the time. That Artie Burns penalty should have had his *** sitting in the locker room watching on TV. What does Tomlin do? ... pulls Burns for one play. That's lazy-***, chicken-**** coaching. It would be one thing if Jarvis Landry did something dirty...but he didn't. He pancaked Burns and Artie got all up in his feelings. Stupid, stupid STUPID penalty.

Had that been me, he would have been excused from the sideline. Win or lose, that's where a coach has to make a statment

I totally agree, I don't even think Tomlin got in his **** either. I totally agree on the discipline ****, our kick coverage team is posing for a team pic in the endzone after a tackle.

That's not true. The 15 yard hold was declined and the helmet removal was taken. Since the first penalty was during the play and the second was after the play, they could only take one.

Additionally, the only thing I can blame Tomlin for is the penalties. We had a **** ton of them. The presnap has to do with preparation and practice. We do have a pattern of higher penalties in September than the rest of the year, and that is on the coaches and staff.

Burns ripping off his helmet was dumb, but they didn't get an extra penalty for it, only one was taken, because only one could be taken. Though if Burns ever takes his helmet off again, or another player this season, that is on the coaches.

A lot of this knee jerk coaching criticism comes from a result you didn't like in the game, other than overall strategy. If Connor didn't fumble, we win that game easily in regulation. Period. It happened, turnovers are part of the game. I'm not going to kill Connor for carrying the ball high away from his body, on a messy field. And I sure as hell am not going to blame Tomlin/Fichner for leaving him in the game, when his play got you to the end game scenario. It's a game and the negative result happened on a high percentage ball control play.

2 teams are playing. Garrett is legit, and the Browns do have a good defense. This is not the expansion browns, their D can ball.

Burns played well but if you watched any of the replays, you will see Burns getting away with a lot of holding. At some point, he either needs to stop that or they will start calling him for penalties. As long as he isn't getting called it's all good but I don't think that will last.

Burns played well

I also think Bud Dupree played well most of this game, regardless of the fact he's also a favorite scapegoat on this board.

Fear not! Cool Shades will take away the ping pong table for a week.

A sack, several pressures and 2 batted down passes. Agreed.

A sack, several pressures and 2 batted down passes. Agreed.

And those pressures forced Taylor to duck out of numerous passes. People were pissed off he didn’t breakdown on the one sack when Taylor escaped, then pissed off that he did breakdown instead of attempting to run through him. Dude played a pretty decent game, though some of his negatives were on display.

Btw, on Dupree, how was this not an illegal, crack-back block? After all the ticky tack **** they've been calling, this seemed like an automatic 15 yard penalty. What am I missing?

I dunno looked like a side block maybe a little to the back not as bad as the ST helmet non reversal. IMO....

On the replay where Cleveland fans at the stadium were hootin' & hollerin' for a PI penalty, the announcers initially thought it was for Sutton (or Hilton, I can't remember who exactly now) but it was for Artie Burns because he was absolutely mugging the WR. It was bad. I'm surprised none of those flag-happy refs saw it.
