1) can't see all.3 edge guys staying healthy all year so they need him
2) I think he's under control for 2 years.......but with 24 mil a tear to herbig I DOUBT he stays next year
3) we have no.idea how bad Tomlin was as a coach until we see this new leadership make use of the same guys. I think you have to find out
4) with nicks contract he's now got a fire under his ***.......man I think he comes out swinging
5) Here's what I found on Patrick Graham and using 3 edge rushers schematically
Simulated Pressures ("Sims")
Graham is notorious for presenting pre-snap looks that suggest an all-out, 6-man blitz, often by having three or four edge rushers standing up at the line of scrimmage. When the ball is snapped, however, he only sends four pass rushers and drops the rest (including one or two anticipated edge rushers) into shallow zone coverage. This forces the offensive line to guess which of the three edge rushers are attacking and which are dropping, causing massive confusion up front
Big Nickel and Dime Packages
Instead of leaving a traditional inside linebacker on the field in obvious passing situations, Graham will often trot out a big nickel or dime look with three safeties and three edge rushers. This keeps the defense fast and versatile while allowing the third edge rusher to line up in a two-point stance, shifting from defensive end to a flat defender in underneath coverage.
Positional Versatility & The "NASCAR" Front Graham utilizes his edge rushers in multiple alignments. In certain down-and-distance scenarios, he shifts his quickest edge rusher to an interior defensive tackle position to create a "NASCAR" or speed package. This places three true edge rushers on the outside and inside, relying on speed to beat slower interior offensive linemen.
Fire Zone Blitzes
Unlike sim pressures, fire zones bring five rushers but ask one of the edge rushers to loop into the B-gap (between the guard and center) to target running backs, while an inside defender drops out to cover the flat. This creative crossing technique masks his coverages and generates free lanes for the pass rush.
