What would be your plan to cover Indy's receivers?

TY is about as explosive as Antonio and even tough he is 5"9 we cant line a CB 8 yds off have to play him 3-6 off the l.os with S over the top, Andre Johnson put Gay on him since Tomlin is to stubborn to play Boykin,
Moncrief is a big fast target,so I would go with Cockrell Fleener <Shazier Allen> Mitchell.

I would go with a nickel of 3-2-6 more vs 2-4-5 or try some 3-3-5
DE Heyward DT Mclendon DE Tuitt LB Harrison LB Timmons LB/DB Shazier CB Gay CB Gay CB/S Blake CF FS Mitchell over TY SS Allen in the box to blitz off the edge.

This is a game I would use some 4 man DL fronts i.e
4-2-5
LE Heyward
NG Mcullers
DT Tuitt
DE/LB Dupree
LB Timmons
LB Shazier
CB Gay
CB Cockrell
NB Boykin/ Blake
FS Mitchell
SS Allen over top

What we will likely see the same
2-4-5
of DE/DT Heyward DE Tuitt Rotating sub Cam T
LB Dupree LB Timmons LB Shazier LB Jones/Harrison
CB Blake on Ty hilton CB Cockrell on Moncrief/Andre CB Gay on likely Andre FS Mitchell SS Allen.

We need Boykin on someone like Andre Johnson to better match size and strength, and if hopefully they choose Cockrell over Blake to cover Ty and play press.
if we line up the cb's 6-8 yds off with a non mobile 39 year old qb they will go to quick outs or slants to ty and Moncrief who if we get sloppy and miss these 2 can make us pay. Butler must create a better game plan with more creative blitzes and way to protect the middle of the field, with the speed Blake has I would like him to play as a S in the middle covering crossing routes and attempt to jump some routes.

The way we played the pass last week, I doubt we'll see a 4 man front the rest of the year. After most 1st downs, they went with a 2 man front.

They won't cover Indy's receivers.

Is our secondary better or worse than last seasons? Obviously they're without Luck, but Hasselbeck has been decent, and with two receivers that put up over 100 on us last year I expect more of the same.

Better hope Ben clears protocol.

And of course, bench will Allen and give golden the start. Solid plan

Start with playing Boykin for Blake and Golden for Allen.. Then bring some pressure

If we don't blitz or the blitzes get picked up, or DBs can't hold

Cockrell and Gay on outside, Boykin in slot. Golden for Allen. I would have Grant be the #4 corner, since Blake stinks, and can't tackle due to his broken thumb. Wish Shamarko was smarter, kinda want to see if he can play.

blitz blitz blitz blitz blitz blitz Golden over Allen, blitz blitz blitz I would also go to a slower offense and keep their offense off the field.

Gerry seems to like my thinking, from today's chat. I hope we are both right.

Comment From Zack B
What do you think: Replace Will Allen with Golden, Cockrell and Gay on outside, Boykin to man slot. Blake can't tackle (thumb) or cover, make Doran Grant #4 corner.

Gerry Dulac:
I like how you think. You might not be far off.

Push them out of bounds or on to the ground like Richard Sherman did to AB! Maybe it's not a penalty anymore?

Yep, we might as well have a couple goats manning the corners the way Blake looked Sunday.

As long as they don't put sheep to cover its all ok. Sheep might cause some fans to jump on the field with nasty thoughts

I'd rest my hopes in the front 7 pressuring a 40 year old quarterback and hope to minimize damage by the secondary, regardless of is on the field at CB and safety.
