What was the point of drafting Snell?

The steelers get in a big game vs a good opponent and in short yardage situations, they choose to go 5 wide or shotgun with 3 wide.

So so what the hell was the point of drafting a big slow power back when you have no plans to even use a power run game?

is it just because they are afraid of the patriots that they panicked?

Probably the same point as keeping a FB on your roster just to cover kicks.

This is Tomlin at his best. We saw all kinds of energy in preseason from some new players and what does the coach do either let them go, don't give them a chance even when the game was totally won in the second quarter.

I liked the Snell draft pick but like I said in that thread, it depends on if they are going to use a power back or not. If not then why draft him? But I can also see them not trusting a rookie on opening night in NE. Nobody looked good last night. Even our #1 pick didn't look good.

The entire game reeked of being scared of the patriots and panicking

Mike Tomlin says the right things, then lives in his fears... he will occasionally gamble, but if you are going to play the odds on aggressive playcalling you have to always do it, even after a failure or two... if you are going to be ultra conservative then ypu take the high percentage play all the time... this fifty fifty crap just gets us the worse of both worlds

I wanted Mark Ingram but the Ravens snatched him up

14 carries for 107 yds and 2 TDs

I like the Shell pick. Let him bulk up and work on his speed and vision and he’ll be a fine RB.

Bulk up? Dude can barely run as it is. He needs to lose 10-15lbs. He’ll never be a feature back though.

Don't even need Snell exactly they could have lined nix up and used him or James. we could have QB sneaked etc. etc so many better options than 5 wide

He was drafted for depth. Saying this he will need a off-season to fat percentage down, muscle up. Which I think he will accomplish. With Conner and Jaysam healthy he will get little reps if any. Way too early to put a postage stamp on him.

Like that 4th and goal in SD a few years ago where direct snap to LB won the game in a do or die play.

But now he can't relay on generational talent to similarly bail him out. Not that he ever had any Aces, but he's definitely out of them at this point.

WTF is the point of having Nix on the team if you're not ever going to use him as a lead blocker????

This organization makes a lot of questionable decisions.

I thought this game exposed Fichtner in a really bad way. It seems they were playing scared from the beginning, never wanted to exert their will on the Pats.

I think he meant in terms of lean muscle and losing unnecessary fat, since muscle is heavier than fat

Why have Nix on the roster? Power formation and pound the ball in.
