What should be the first question to McCarthy

Honestly, I doubt any new head coach wants Rodgers back. This oozes a front office decision, whether it's Khan or ARII. This coach needs to sink or swim with young QBs or take a chance on an upside rehab project like Willis/Jones. What the Steelers cannot do is base the entire offseason around Rodgers.

This also needs to be the offseason the Steelers start to re-sign draft picks rather than put band aids over positions with short-term UFA signings. Start to build a foundation and continue to support it with the draft.

I'm hoping he was just saying that too, he's not going to say no I don't want him back.

I was not a huge fan of the hiring, but I will say this. If McCarthy can come in here and re-establish an identity for this team, bring back Steeler football to the burgh, and also re-build a very below average offense in the next 3-5 years I would say that would be a huge success. IF it then gets turned over to a young guy, then so be it. The one benefit to being a life long fan and from the area is that he knows what Steeler football is all about, and it's not the **** we have put on the field for the last decade.

I think he may have been brought in to find the next QB and re-build the offense, and at 62 I think he'll bring in legit coordinators, especially on D.

agreed, but all those guys move better than Rodgers, Maye iced the AFCCG with his legs. It's not just necessarily about ability to run, but the ability to move and keep alive in the pocket, Rodgers wants no part of contact anymore.

Perhaps but Stafford, Maye, Darnold are more pure pocket passers. I think you can win both ways but the main QB better be able to pass and accurately.

Maye rushed for 450 and iirc they flashed a stat where he had the most rushes for 1st downs in the league (for QBs). May have been a stat related to 3rd down rushes??

At any rate, just because he’s excellent within the pocket doesn’t mean he is not a rushing threat.

Today’s QBs almost have to be mobile, Aaron is a ******* joke back there…statue doesn’t even begin to describe his deficiency. He makes Darnold look like Randall Cunningham…heck he even makes Stafford look fleet footed . What’s even worse than his total lack of evasive ability is the chicken **** way the offense has to run with all throws in 1.5 seconds or less, he is a set of handcuffs much like Tomlin was…or if he should have to hold it 2 seconds he’ll just fumble the ball on contact cuz his old bodies is prepping for the fall rather than protecting the football.

I’ll just take the year off from the Steelers if they run it back with that sorry “plan”. Tired of the pussification of this squad.
