As long as he can feel the football. My little finger looks like than. I dropped a pipe bending die on it one night. Weighted approx. 100 lbs. Broke the **** out of it. Been bent like a dog's hind leg ever since. The doc was going to put a pin in it then he got pressed for time. So it will always be bent.
 
Well I'm sorry but it may be over for him if he can't catch. I hope they don't keep him just out of sympathy.......... **** that. They should be healed and ready by now. They aren't that bad. Seen many a worse than that due to the profession they were in. AND yes, profession(s) that count on their hands to perform. I hope for his first 1/2 season as his normal but don't want anything to do with his 2nd half season. Oh and if the fingers were the excuss for catching what are the alligator arms an excuss for????

The index has a damaged stretched out and torn ligament from the looks of it. I doubt you could fix it now. Those things have to repaired quickly and rehabbed. You don't have that kind of time when you're playing.

Yes Torry Holt does have mangled fingers but i doubt anyone here knows if he had issues when it first happened. He may have needed time to recover just like Coates did..
 
Only the index finger looks off. But, you can see a scar up and down the index finger and middle finger where he apparently did have surgery.
 
The Pirates could use pitching. I bet he could throw a good curveball with that.

MANY here have tough JOBs and don't get catered to. All I'm saying is suck it up and perform like the 1st 1/2 of last season. If he performs like the 2nd 1/2 of last season then he needs to be cut and not take up a roster spot for compassion's sake. He has had enough time to heal and make his finger adjustments along the way. Do I want him to succeed, HELL yes, but don't label me unsympathetic when in fact I'm rooting for his success with a dose of reality tossed in.

I mean did the DR. advise him not to initially fix the fingers? As it won't affect his pass catching? to me it just seems odd to sit on his hands and do nothing...........
 
Don't know how much of Sammie we will see with all the other receivers on the roster. He may not even make the team.
