I realize Oakorfor will be starting at LT but Moore could easily be there as well. Last night they (steelers) asked him and played him in multiple positions and all he did was his job.!!! He did well enough to have confidence in him in multiple positions. The Steelers must think so as well as they put him in there knowing is ability. Oakofor and Banner best play high level or thay could be replaced and DAN would be the man stepping into that role.

It's nice to know we have a quality depth tackle who is better at LT but could play RT as well.

I loved seeing the top 4 draft picks all on the field contributing at the same time...beautiful. Dan can play either side. His pass pro seems pretty damn solid for a rook and he can be an aggressive and physical road grader on the right. What's not to love?

Like Wolf says about Mike Webster..."dude has legs for arms and humans for legs". Big Dan is a bad mofo. Klemm seems to be working some magic with these youngins. Exciting stuff.

It's early. Everyone is bland in planning and the level of competition is all over the place.

When the games get real we should have a better understanding. I figure by game 4 or 5 we should have a good idea.

Would not surprise me after Watt is done and I think that will be done this week! Just a feeling. Kinda like the Hines Ward right before final preseason game. Back to point, I would not be surprised if they trade/pick up LT and move Moore to RT and Banner back to his fan favorite 3rd T. Or they get a stud RT and Moore goes to LT. I just don't see them comfy with Banner and Chunks, I am not

I think this O-line can be special. There, I said it.

Just gotta stay healthy and gel together. Big Zach was in only for a series, maybe two before they pulled him. If he can lock down RT, he may be a keeper there. Kendrick Green is as athletic & proactive as an interior OL can be, his short area quickness seems off the charts. What a find, if he can start out of the gate. Trai Turner will be the grizzled vet in there holding everything down, keeping the group focused. Kevin Dotson is half man, half animal. That dude is a man amongst boys out there, which is saying something in the NFL. Just a powerful dude. And with Chuks & Moore, you have two viable options for LT and also the swing tackle spot. It seems to me Moore is the future there, but Chuks has showed up pretty well. Man, all of this gives me hope, that Coach Klemm can take all these new faces and moving parts and mold it into a servicable OL in a rather short amount of time.

On Najee's first nice run, Banner pushed the DL 10 yards down field, on Harris' second good gain, Banner sealed off the left defensive line. He looked a little stiff in pass coverage. I think everyone knows this is his rep so I'm interested to see it play out early this year.

I think this is going to be a tough first quarter of the season for them, but they will eventually gel… i am very concerned with up the middle bull rushes and the LT growing pains being bad early on

Legit.

The more I see of Moore, the more I like. He's shaping up to be an excellent fourth round pick.

Wow...that is a bunch they are going to dude. So their two starting tackles as of now won't be starting week one as part of a hunch you have of them locking Watt up long term this week. Awesome.

Moore has looked terrific and it's too bad he isn't going to have a chance to start. We know what we have in Okorafor and it isn't very good. Moore would make mistakes at left tackle, but I'm willing to live with those because his upside and probably his floor is better than Okorafor.

They probably prefer not to have a combined one year of experience between Moore, Dotson and Green on the left side, which is understandable.

Given how good Moore has looked in camp, I do not see Okorafor getting a lot of latitude.

If Okorafor struggles the first couple weeks, we're very likely to see Moore get a shot.

Chiefs appear to be doing that with Humphrey, Smith, and Niang. Then again, the other two guys they have on the line are studs.

Yup called an opinion. It’s been mentioned multiple times about shopping for another tackle. Not to mention one on the rookies has been out playing the starters. Again. An opinion. Many people just spit facts out here because their opinions are facts, I’m just giving a hopeful hunch as you say. And this week makes sense for watt. Final preseason game, but OK

Wait, what, you mean everything spewed out by SN and the intrawebs in general isn't gospel? Say it ain't so.

I’ve watched film. At least as much as I can so far (Gamepass not in SN deal for preseason).

#1 — Chuks is going to be weak link on line but may well be best candidate this year. Despite his size, relative to OTs, he’s not particularly strong. In shotgun he backs up a lot before engaging , relying on his quickness and long reach to pass block. A “great” LT could engage much quicker.

#2 — Moore has played well. To expect him as a rookie - and be honest here - not exactly Joe Thomas coming out of gate, would be to ask a lot from him and is unrealistic. We already are going with 1 rookie on OL who may struggle at times. Expecting 2 to start and contend is asking a lot.

#3 — Perspective. Faneca didn’t start until week 6 as a rookie. Simmons didn’t start until week 3. Both were first round picks. Back in the day - Leon Searcy didn’t start all year and he was 11th overall. Pouncey was an exception.

#4 — Can Moore start? This year? I say yes, but only if Okorafor plays so bad a change must be made (or injury) and it’s week 5 or later.

I’m okay with Banner at RT. He’s not quick, but strong. On the run block he can maul guys, and they did not have that last year. RT is position for him as his immense size would be liability against the speed rushers of today.

Watt would never overpower him for example but likely would toast him with moves. Watt is elite of course and toasts everyone.

Between Banner, pulling Dotson (he does not evoke memories of Faneca, young DeCastro, or others in his quickness getting over—but DeCastro playing on very hurt legs and Feiler just not a quick pulling guard period) is an upgrade over 2020, and he’s clearly powerful strong.

I’d expect a lot more push at LOS and downfield especially with these 2 guys on runs.

100%.

So far no one has targeted Green at C in preseason—aimed to make it difficult. He’s not been “challenged” yet.

I expect come Baltimore that they try and exploit his inexperience.

I hear what you are saying FSF and the "rookie" point is definately a consideration. My biggest grin is that we got a 4th rounder who could start should he need to. Can't go wrong with that. You are right that maybe Oakofor falters along the way but it's nice to know Moore could bail us out. Most here, way back when, wasn't giving Dan moore a chance of starting and he he lived up to the challenge thus far. Do I want him to start, hell yes but not at the team's expense. The best one by the coach's view should start. and hope like hell the other is just bck up for the entire year (no injures to anyone).

Nice insightful post

I hope the coaches have the same line of thinking. Okorafor was the weak link on the offensive line last year and he appears to be the weak link again this year. He has performed below the line the the preseason and we have a rookie who through the first two preseason games was their best lineman. This feels like it could potentially be another Feiler-Dotson situation where the line was better with Dotson last year yet the coaches stuck with the veteran. The only difference is Feiler was still an okay starter on the line where Okorafor isn't.

I think that they will be looking hard as cuts come in today and then again next week. Some Tackle could be releases that they pounce on. Heard Dillard mentioned again on a Philly radio station yesterday. Mentioned Steelers and Colts. Steelers seem content with Pierre and/or Sutton with Haden. Seems like the front 7 does their job; they are good on the back end.

Moore will be starting at left tackle by week 4.

What a great draft.
1st 4 picks starting 1st year.
Loudermilk should develop into a quality starter in a few years also
Don't forget a starting punter in the 7th!

I like what Moore has shown. Improvement each practice. He's very coachable. He will be the swing T and XT day 1. He has been playing better at LT than RT in practice. But he's had a chance to play against 1s at both positions this preseason and did well spelling Banner at RT, since they are limiting his snaps before the season starts.
