He was 230lbs in LA, basically was their ILB on passing downs. Listening to Tunch and Wolf from mini-camp, they said he's down to 209lbs, which is around what he was when he came out as a Safety I believe. 209 seems light to play ILB even on passing downs.

He was an insurance signing in case we weren't able to draft someone to play in the middle. Now he's possibly a wild card in that he could play multiple positions. I expect him to play more to start the year and Bush to eventually be starting and getting the majority of snaps as the year goes along.

At the time i was thinking the same, they signed him to play ILB if we don't get Bush or White, but I think it's strange he'd drop 20+lbs down to under 210 if they planned on him playing ILB. It seems like he's going to play some sort of safety role.

speed. he dropped weight to help get faster. not so uncommon, and should be applauded considering the speed of the offenses he'll face int he AFCN

Bush will start from Day 1, Barron will see some time at ILB, but I just don't see him starting ahead of Bush.....

Barron is going to play alot in different schemes. With him & Edmunds we have a few interchangeable parts that will see plenty of field action.

If he can cover at 209, then his job will be to cover over the middle. Remember the plan was to implement more safeties into the defense last year and injuries squashed that plan. If we are healthy going into the year we could see some new defenses.

Bouchette was just on the radio here in Pittsburgh and was talking about Barron, said there's a decent chance that he, not Williams, will be starting alongside Bush this season.

love me some Vince, but he's a LOT slower than either of Barron or Bush

This has been my thought all along...Barron and V-Will until Bush is ready to start and then its Bush-Barron most of the time. V-will is awesome guy, but I think his time as a starter is limited.

IF Burns turns his **** around and gets his head on straight... and Buggs plays like he can, we can have the Killer Bs on defense in Burns, Buggs, Barron and Bush.

From what I've heard and read, it sounds like they plan on Bush starting from day 1.

I just hope that with both Bush and Barron being a bit undersized, they don't get gashed by the run.

He'll play the role Burnett did, since that was so successful he quit.

They are infatuated with S/LB hybrids, no matter how badly they keep failing at that plan. It's right up there with the 2 DL sets when it comes to good strategy.

Let's not forget our DC didn't realize an upcoming opposition's TE was out for the season 4 weeks prior. We got some real brain power on our coaching staff.

also all the more reason to use 3Dlinemen

Man I hope they give up that 2 DL ****. They've got great DL in Heyward, Tuitt, Hargrave & I'll even say Alualu (and now potentially Buggs), hopefully they use them properly.

Walton is a nice player too, IMO.

Old Hebrew would say that a 'barren bush' will catch fire...

Now for my football analysis (aided by a good ol' dose of Bama homerade) - Barron should be moved back to SS, where he excelled at Bama. My logic behind this statement is simple - he doesn't make the mistakes that Davis sometimes does when he's in space---PLUS---he'll fold you up like a lawn chair when he hits you!!!
