I guess ol' mr peeples was on to something after all -- the Steelers indeed went 1-4. Interesting to look back at some of the posts here, but the main reason I dug this up was to talk about the Steelers versus the spread.
They only ended up being favored in three of these five games, and lost all of those. The line flipped on the New England game, I would suspect mostly due to the fact that Pittsburgh lost outright to a double-digit underdog the week prior, along with the absence of James Conner.
So overall on the season, the Steelers have lost 5 games (and tied 1) as at least a 3-point favorite:
@ Cleveland (-3.5) T 21-21
KANSAS CITY (-4.5) L 37-42
BALTIMORE (-3) L 14-26
@ Denver (-3) L 17-24
CHARGERS (-3) L 30-33
@ Oakland (-10.5) L 21-24
Ironically, they were 4-0 as underdogs until the Saints game, although all of those wins were less than 3-point spreads.
Bottom line is, 11-3-1 was just a pipe dream...this team underachieves way too often under Mike Tomlin.

What's sad is that even a 2-3 mark over those five games would still have provided the Steelers with control of their division and a #4 seed in the playoffs. All they had to do was beat Oakland.
I mean you could tell he was a pats troll when he thought we would beat the Raiders in Oakland... everyone knew that was a surefire loss when the araiders looked like they would suck this year...

Exactly right. My comment wasn’t directed at the person that made the prediction, it was for all of the rose colored glasses wearing people that gave him **** for making that prediction, which you didn’t need to be Nostradamus to make, knowing the Tomlin years.
