What does Hodges need to do to keep the job for another week?

Congrats to Hodges on getting the win on the road tonight but I'm hopeful Rudolph can shake off his concussion and return in 2 weeks vs Dolphins.

That said, the coaching staff will **** this up and put Mason back in....

Maybe we can run the Statue of Liberty play?

Our QBs just don't have much to work with at the WR position. If they have AB or someone to that caliber, it would make things a lot easier.

Mason will start and we will again struggle, he has a weak downfield arm and needs the player to be wide open before he throws the ball. Hodges anticipates the throws and lets her rip, much better for an NFL QB and the reason he had a great training camp and wowed the coaches with his more mature approach . We will beat the Phins the real question is whose style is better equiooed for trying to make a playoff run and a weak armed timid statue in the pocket is not the answer. He will start due to pedigree and we will suffer as a result.

We have ONE NFL starting caliber WR and the worst 3rd, 4th and 5th WRs in the league.

WHere the hell are you getting this? Mason is hands down the better QB right now. You are as insane as coach.

Holton and Switzer should not be on the roster. There is no way Eli Rogers isn't better than both of them.

I dont know but if Hodges wants to hang out this week while he us hunting in Saskatchewan he can look me up. I'll make the steaks and pour the whiskey. Hell he can even come to the Allan Foul Supper next weekend.

Holton is the poor mans dhb... he is here for the special teams only...

Switzer is a generic Wes welker without all the talent lol

I don’t get the love affair with Hodges. Dude is 22-29 for 200 yards 1 TD and 1 INT in basically six quarters of football. Those numbers don’t describe someone that lets her rip. His numbers are 9 ypc and just under 7 ypa. I’m not getting the hype for either guy. They are both stuck running the same ****** game plan, so I don’t know how you know what you have in either one.

Part of it is backup qb syndrome... part of it is we got to see him vs scrubs in the preseason... part of it is his best nfl ready trait is the inside passing game... quick strikes to wrs in contested space... he is the exact opposite most of the trolls in this thread are claiming he is... his arm isn’t stronger than Masons... he isn’t going to bomb the ball regularly... he is just about6’1so he is small for a QB... he will need a year to work on arm strength and acclimate to nfl speed... he also has to learn to play behind a larger line... its going to be hard for him in the deep game for a bit...

What’s going to happen is teams will eventually get tape on him, clog the middle of the field with dbs and dare him to go deep and outside... how quickly he adapts to that is key... Don’t get me wrong... this kid could be a starter, but right now Mason with a full playbook is the better bet... not that the staff is going to let that happen...

Also we don’t have any useful wr on this team thats a legit deep threat and can catch... horton has been brutal and juju is almost always bracketed. Being too hard on either of these guys cause they are utilizing dump offs is probably silly...

I just don't understand why Moncrief is all of a sudden a terrible WR. I've seen him kill us in games vs Jags and Colts. What is wrong with this dude? He had a nice catch tonight.

He injured his hand/fingers early and it really set him back. Perhaps he can work his way back now provided he is healthy.

Holton should not be on the roster.

He did make a great play on the punt....But that interception was on Holton, not Ducky.....QUACK QUACK

Seriously the DUDE has shown nothing

Duck didn't do anything great but I think Chargers defense respected him more than other defenses have respected Rudolph. That would explain the running room.
It's not like Rudolph is a whole lot better.

Lol at the people saying Duck had a great game. Tomlin trusted him so much he played turtle ball to end the first half instead of using timeouts and running the 2 min drill.

The first half when Duck actually looked decent his average air yards per pass was what 3 yards? They were all dumpoffs just like people in this thread were knocking Mason for! Where is the outrage that you can't dink and dunk and be a good QB? Watching Duck was like watching Mason 2.0 but at least Mason has the size and stronger arm. Wtf are some of you watching?

How is putting Mason, our clear cut No. 2 QB, back in after the bye a bad thing? Hodges played OK. That's it. He didn't light anything up. He didn't even look better than Rudolph, let alone so much better than Rudolph to even warrant a conversation about him being starter. In fact, for him to be starter, he has to get rid of that ridiculous No. 6. Seeing him run around in No. 6 last night gave me nightmares of Bubby Brister and those are nightmares you don't want to know about.

Rudolph doesn't have a weak downfield arm, throwing a good deep ball is what got him drafted, you may be right on anticipation, or he just doesn't trust himself at this level yet.

Sorry, there's no way this is a playoff team, too may holes. I say play Rudolph and open the playbook to downfield passing this year, at least figure out what we have in Mason.

Too bad we blew our 1st round pick, we go nowhere without a reciever that can seperate from DB's

All any QB under center needs is confidence and consistency.
As long as Duck approaches every week and not make the game any bigger than it needs to be, he can get some W’s.

My only complaint is our wins seem to come at a price injury wise.

Rudolph has the better overall rating and TD percentage. They are playing them similar as their yards per pass play are identical. But Rudolph is safer with the football. How they are playing them I will go with the safer option, it is Rudy for me.

I almost want to see Duck start again with the coaches allowing him to play his style of game however he’s just not good enough or experienced enough under center.

His best team would be in a dome to cover a very limited NFL arm.

What this season is showing us is none of our back ups are long term solutions. Rudy could be a good back up, but I don’t see much beyond that.

The Steelers are going to need to draft a QB high in 2021 or 2022...the year Ben retires.

Trading Tomlin makes all the sense in the world.

I like what I see out if Joe Burrow so far
